Schizophrenia Research Institute Description
The Schizophrenia Research Institute is the only Australian medical research institute whose sole aim is to discover the causes, prevention and cures for schizophrenia. One in 100 young Australians have or will develop schizophrenia and 30 percent of these will attempt suicide. Schizophrenia is a loss of reality, with symptoms of delusions, hallucinations, social withdrawal and decline in memory and cognitive ability.
Established in 1996 as Australia’s only virtual Institute, it has a network of 200 scientists nationally.
