About Serenade Ballet Academy

Established in 2016, Serenade Ballet Academy strives to provide dedicated students with more than just dance classes, but a unique experience in which the student can grow both mentally and physically as a dancer.

Serenade Ballet Academy Description

Miss Emily started dancing at 3 years old at Paige's Dance Academy. During her time here she was trained in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) classical method of teaching by Lisa Wall and Tanya Melmeth Flindell, consistently obtaining Distinction results in all Graded and Vocational Ballet Examinations. Emily also received Distinction results for all Contemporary Dance Association Examinations under the guidance of her Paige Callaghan.

In 2008, at the age of twelve, Emily was accepted into the McDonald College's Classical Ballet Program. During her time there Emily was a member of the school's youth ballet company 'Premier State Ballet', and elite training program Australian International Ballet Academy, where she was coached by classical professionals: Josephine Jason, Allan Cross, Jane Kesby, Katie Pianoff, Gina Brescianni and Joshua Consandine; whom were instrumental in shaping her development as a dancer and coach today. Emily's experience at the McDonald College was extremely rewarding, with her achievments extending from acceptance into the Australian Ballet School's Interstate Program in 2008 /09, to being the recipient of the Robert & Elizabeth Albert Scholarship in 2009 and the Senior Ann McDonald Scholarship in 2010. In 2011, at the age of fifteen, Emily toured parts of Britain & Europe, where she was accepted into the Royal Ballet School in London. However, Emily was unable to fulfil this wonderful opportunity due to a recurring injury. In light of such disappointment, this experience has strongly influenced her approach and outlook on teaching today.

Emily has had the pleasure of teaching and sharing her passion for dance since 2012. When she is not teaching, she is completing her undergraduate degree at Macquarie University, or taking casual dance classes at Sydney Dance Company to broaden her dance repertoire. In 2016, Emily will commence the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) through the Royal Academy of Dance to gain full accreditation as a ballet exam teacher. Emily aims to build a strong foundation of classical-ballet technique, enhancing student development by adopting a classical coaching approach to teaching, striving to achieve an important balance between discipline and enjoyment for dance.
