About Settlers Arms Inn

Established in 1836, the Settlers Arms Inn was built from convict-hewn sandstone.

Settlers Arms Inn Description

Established in 1836, the Settlers Arm Inn is built from convict - hewn sandstone. Surrounded by mountains, it nestles alongside the Macdonald River within the tiny village of St. Albans, the heart of the Macdonald Valley, New South Wales.

Of Georgian simplicity, the hotel became a stopover for Cobb and Co. stagecoaches traveling between Sydney and Newcastle in the nineteenth century.

These days the inn is an alternative gateway to the Hunter Valley wine districts for visitors from the Central Coast as well as Sydney and its environs. Travelling time to St. Albans is approximately 1. 5 hours by car from these areas.

The Settlers Arms Inn is not only popular with day trippers but provides Accommodation comprising four doubles, all with ensuite.

Australian Country - style cuisine is available seven day a week. Outdoor activities may involve tennis at the courts across the way, swimming and relaxing in our 12 metre saltwater pool, bike riding, golf at Wisemans Ferry, or just ambling along a country road.

Entertainment is provided on Sundays in the rear garden with live music.

Open fireplaces add warmth and atmosphere to dining and imbibing in the cooler months.

Great pub lunch. Take the drive out here and enjoy the beer garden and the vibe of this very old place.

User

Quaint and charming old pub. Plenty of space for kids to run around out the back.

User

An excellent historic hotel that is quiet casual and very interesting to visit. The whole place is a great place to go for an afternoon. The food is good and the staff are great.

User

Beautiful location - staff have a take it or leave it attitude though. Couldn't help feeling like we were intruding. Food was brilliant however and arrived promptly.

User

The food was fantastic. The owners were lovely. The buildings are beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Like having lunch at a mechanics. Lovely pie, if somewhat over priced, but the publicans teenage children where pulling apart theirs cars out front, with car parts on the dining tables, revving engines loudly & blowing smokey exhaust over the beer gardens. Shame really, nice pub, nice publican trashed by bogan teenagers!

Went here on a Sunday. We booked inside as it was a cold day. The room we were in was dark & dingy the fire was smokey and had sore eyes so moved. Waited an hour for food, no problem with that they were busy.
Steak & bacon sandwich for $28 was cold with fatty bacon. Pastie was hot with spice Meat pie was ok Fish was oily and dry.
Toilets were dirty, no lights with cobwebs and cockroaches in the ceiling.
Not a romantic spot very ran down needs the health dept inspection
never going back.

Fantastic historic pub. Great bar, great beer, only let down by average food after a long wait. Still recommend a visit, if only to have a beer in the garden and see this great old building.

User
