I went for the two day camp and rode in the advanced group (I'm 10 and this is after the first day) My instructor was named Emily and the great thing is how they get you to be super kind to you horse! The teaching was encouraging and helpful, that's the most I've learnt in 45 minutes! During horsemanship I didn't get a turn on lunging but that's ok. Note: if you ride Freckles the pony you'll have a great ride! I give 5 stars to Shelby! Well done!

Our daughter (age 9) does Saddle Club here and it is amazing! She not only rides but does horsemanship each week. Cannot believe how much she learns and improves week on week. The instructors are great and very experienced and all the kids love it. We did the school holiday 2 day sessions which are awesome and a great "tester" to see if your child would like to do horse riding lessons. Cannot recommend Shelby highly enough if you want a riding school for your child.

I took my 4yo grandaughter for her first riding lesson at Shellby this week & it was brilliant. The instructor was so good with her and to my surprise she had great balance, listened to all the instructions and rode alone so well. The pony was delightful and I had full trust in her. The indoor arena here is so amazing and all staff I met were very helpful. I really liked that she was taught from getting the pony ready to putting her back in her stable. We will definitely be back for more! Thanks Shellby team!

Hi Lucy
so I would just like to reply to your review.; firstly - I am so sorry u had a negative experience - it is one of only very few I have been privy too... as owner of Shellby I am surprised and disappointed you have never contacted me directly with your issues. I am at always available at Shellby, and if not you could certainly have expressed your issues with the office staff. I would just like to correct a couple of your statements though , so that any readers understand your context - which is not clearly expressed. Secondly- you are not currently enrolled in Shellby and according to our records it is well over a year since you last attended- you and your sister were enrolled in our Saddle Club for a short 6 week period. This is clearly described on the website as "an introductory course for the first time rider". The cost was at that time $600 per person for 6 weeks. so the $200 you are referring to is of course referring to the cost for both you and your sister, who was also enrolled in the course. The course is also aimed at the 7-11yo students..it is meant to be slow yet progressive - at the rat of the group. The format of the course (found to be exceptionally successful and having a continuance rate of 95%), is to include 45 minutes of horse management, followed by 45 minutes of riding. This can be varied if the students are found to be exceptionally uncomfortable with the horse management component, as we feel a beginner should be happy on the ground before mounting - perhaps this would explain your extended horse management time?
Our Saddle Club program has received accolade from the majority of its participants as being a thorough, informative and progressive course. I am so sorry that your experience has not being such.. can we help you in some way to improve on your experience? Are you and your sister still riding? Please contact me on 94501745 and perhaps we can arrange something to correct your experience... kind regards Rachelle Joisce, Manager
