Pritzker-prize winning architect Shigeru Ban @shigeruban has sprung into action in the midst of a disaster zone, mobilising his Voluntary Architects Network (VAN) to set up temporary ‘homes’ for victims of the Japanese floods and give families much needed privacy in a time of devastation and uncertainty. The temporary partition systems are made from paper tubes and cloth curtains. In Ban’s own words, “It is our mission as professional architects to make living environments better.
