South Coast Police District Description

The Shoalhaven Local Area Command is located on the beautiful south coast, 160 km south of the Sydney CBD. The Command covers an area of some 4, 700 square kilometres strectching from Brougton Village in the north to Bungonia George in the west and to North Durras in the south.

It incorporates 49 towns and villages and includes over 1, 000 kilometres of coastline, 109 beaches, river systems, lakes and bays such as Jervis Bay, St Georges Basin, Lake Conjola and Burrill Lake.

The Command is bordered to the north by Lake Illawarra /Wollongong Commands and the Far South Coast Command to the south. The area is a large tourist destination and incorporates a mix of residential, commercial, educational and industrial use.
