Spice Temple

Set menu $79 pp. Confused flavours but plenty of food. Squid dish poor, squid not cleaned properly and frozen not fresh. Cheapest wine $70/bottle and good choices over $100. Now it’s owned by private equity the balance sheet and P/L are being readied for a public sale of the entire group ; Bavarian Beer etc. the Neil Perry restaurants are not what they were. And no Chinese people eating there.

Our experience didn't start off very well... There was a mix up with our table reservation... Which they managed... Could be better with customer handling. The food was good. Authentic Chinese cuisine. Great flavours by way of fresh ingredients. Definitely on the more spicy side and very oily... But that could be because of the heavy Sichuan influence. The portions are generally large. The crispy fried quail was brilliant. The three milk cake for dessert was exceptional.

We had such a great experience here. We ordered the Dynasty banquet with matching wines and it was delicious, filling and great value. We were extremely full by dish 6 (out of 10) but everything was so delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is great. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Would give it zero stars if I could. From the time we were seated, service was simply terrible. Wait staff extremely inattentive to the extent that we had to pour our own water from the serve tables next to us... this at a supposedly fine dining joint. Food was very oily and flavours were not balanced. Overpriced for what it is. Waiting 30 minutes for change and being served complimentary cheap tasting marshmallows at the end of an already horrible experience took the cake. Never going back!

For the price you pay you do expect to get some service.
The staff were pleasant. They were all just very in experienced at waiting on tables.
1.Poured tap water into the sparkling I ordered.
2. Food did not arrive at the table at a good time . It took about 1 hr from entree to main.
3. I ended up stacking the dishes myself because there was not enough staff to carry the dishes so she has to stack enough dishes on her arms as if she was putting on a show.

The list goes on. I didn't pay that much money to have to write a terrible review.

It felt as though I was in a cheap Chinese restaurant. Such a shame.

The beef with cumin was the best Asian beef I've had. Every cube was medium rare, melt in your mouth texture with a mixture of spice and flavour unsurpassed by all. The pork belly was tender and juicy with perfect crackling balanced by the freshness of corinader and the crunch of peanuts and sesame seeds. Devine!

If you're looking for excellent service, food and ambience look no further! Can't go wrong with Spice Temple, definitely the favourite pick from Neil Perry': restaurants

The food was delicious and the cocktails were something special (especially the silk road) but the service left a sour taste in my mouth. When we made our order we were told by the wait staff that we had not ordered enough food for three ladies (pickles, dumplings, an entree, a main, a vegetable dish and rice) not wanting to ignore the advice we added a further dish and found ourselves with entirely too much food. Being pushed into ordering more food than we needed, when we had judged quite well to begin with, felt like a lesser quantity of service than I'd expect from such a well regarded establishment.

Awesome place. Really good chicken wings! The food is great, vast drinks menu and great service.

I've had dinner here on several occasions. The food is consistent and always tastes great. The service is accommodating and friendly. Atmosphere is very contemporary, may be a little dark for some customers but the vibe the restaurant gives off is one of a kind. Highly recommended. Price may be a bit steep for people just looking for a decent meal. However, you get what you pay for. The food is of great quality. Portions are perfect, no complaints there.

Simply awesome. Be prepared to spend a few hours sampling the menu.

Came here last week and must say the food was bloody lovely. Cant recommend anything more than the three flavours dish, blew me away!!!

Really didn't want to be underwhelmed by spice temple but I was. The shredded duck and silken tofu was great but no dish really blew us away - 2 hats is a stretch. The spanner crab and mung bean noodles was really disappointing, sounded great on the menu but was bland and tasteless.

Something that soured the night was the birthday cake and candles I provided to them to surprise my girlfriend. Someone made the decision to leave the number 30 candle that I searched far and wide to get off the cake?? Why? Instead they put 3 normal candles on the cake. It really ruined the surprise and the moment, can't believe they wouldn't have maybe asked me first before doing that. Couldn't believe it, she'll only turn 30 once :(

On a high note the wontons and fried rice were delicious, cocktails were incredibly smooth and well balanced, and the service was impressively efficient and the lighting and decor provides a really nice dining atmosphere.

Despite not being hip enough nor having a reservation, we got a seat immediately, had friendly staff and each dish was excellent! 9.5 for a bottle of water was a bit stiff, but I guess to be expected for the kind of place. Go. Eat. Enjoy.
