Spotlight Newcastle

This store has a decent range of goods, Yet the staff need a good dose in customer service. Order online if you can, and avoid these power tripping feminists. Professionalism is in short supply here...

I've been to Spotlight twice in the last week and both times have found the staff to be incredibly rude. Buying fabric shouldn't be such an unpleasant experience. Both times the women spoke sharply, without smiles or a hello. The questions I asked politely (regarding whether a particular fabric came in a certain colour) were clearly frustrating and annoying for them. I walked out feeling pretty awful :( In addition to my unpleasant experience with the fabric ladies, the carpark took me ten minutes to get into and then fifteen to get out of. Will be ordering my fabric online from another place from now on.

I just read that "people typically spend 30 minutes here" & laughed 😂 I always spend AT LEAST 2 hours, there!! LOL
I should work at Newcastle Spotlight!! I know where everything is, I help lost-looking customers find exactly what they need & I have OCD so I'm forever straightening & rearranging things eg. Embroidery Cotton 😂 no one wants to sort that drama... except me lol

This shop is so difficult to get in to. It took me about 10 minutes to work out that you have to enter the Anaconda store down below and take the escalator to get to Spotlight. What a weird set up. Store is cramped and cluttered and not many staff seem to be present.

They had very good service I got someone attending to what I was looking for she cane out from behind the counter to show me where the items were

Ok but no staff to cheack on customers.

Customer service was excellent. Shelley showed me the best options for what I was after.

All good but always baffled by the que system here - such a bottleneck.

I love this shop. Yes, it can be looking a bit messy, but I don't care. I always got inspired by the huge range of hobby materials and fabrics.
I could wander around for 24 hours.

Seems to have gone down hill. Many items are much more expensive than expected.

The only reason I go to Spotlight is to get supplies I have run out of outside business hours. If there were other options available I would use them. I almost exclusively shop online for my crochet, sewing and cross stitch supplies due to the poor service and availability of products at this store which I used to frequent and enjoy visiting. They are almost always out of stock of the item I am looking for, most of the staff I have had contact with do not understand the most simple things about sewing or craft (I once asked if they had any more balls of a particular kind of wool as the 8 left were from a different dye lot and obviously couldn't be used together and was told by the staff member I eventually found that there were 8 balls there and to stop being so picky), the store is generally a disaster, and staff members smoke illegally in the covered carpark, even after I sent a complaint to the company and was assured by the manager that it would never happen again. I miss the way Spotlight Newcastle used to be, with a large variety of well organised craft supplies and helpful, knowledgeable staff.
