NAPLAN Readiness Test
Students in year 5 completed the writing NAPLAN Readiness Test today. The test is not assessed and no marks are provided to the school. The purpose of the test is to ensure our technology can appropriately preform with the new online NAPLAN assessment which is meant to go live next year.
This is a mandatory test that we must do. The technology performed well this morning. Further testing will occur tomorrow.
ES1 - starfall.com
Early Stage One Literacy Groups
Early Stage One students used starfall.com to enhance and individualise their writing. The website read out and displayed a word and picture for each student such as wolf or elephant. Students were then required to write a sentence. students were challenged to combine words to write more interesting and complex sentences.
This is a good free website that parents may find helpful to extend thinking and learning at home.

Brother Bernard Bulfin RIP
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Br Bernard Bulfin. Br Bernard was Principal of Patrician Brothers' College Blacktown for over 20 years before moving to Fairfield where he was Principal for about 10 years. His death was sudden and unexpected - he died from acute pneumonia. The current Principal of Patrician Brothers' College, Mr Santo Passarello, said this week: "Br Bernard was a remarkable man. A man of God, one of the truly great Patrician Brothers. Kind, generous and compassionate. An inspirational leader and a legend of Western Sydney. He leaves an extraordinary legacy." On behalf of everyone here at Blacktown, both past and present community members, we extend our deepest sympathies to Br Bernard's family and fellow Patrician Brothers.
