About St John The Beloved Melkite Parish

“You are God, beyond description, beyond understanding, invisible, incomprehensible, always existing, always the same…”
(Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom)

The most amazing love story, is that God, takes on our humanity to raise us to be one with Him in eternal happiness. Jesus the Christ, reveals the completeness of God's saving plan for us. Jesus does not establish a religion, or just give us a book. He establishes a Church, a living community of believers that is guided by the Holy Spirit. The Church brings this joyful news of love and eternal salvation to our world. We are part of this ancient Church. We although imperfect are called to live life to the full and it is through the Holy Mysteries we seek fullness of life, perfection and sanctification.

The Church is not a museum of saints but a hospital for sinners. One of our precious treasures from the East is the Jesus Prayer “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner”. It is through the Church that we have the means of salvation, spiritual counsel and strength. Through faith and reason the Church challenges us and society. “The Catholic Church is open to dialogue with philosophical thought; this has enabled her to produce various syntheses between faith and reason. ” (Pope Francis, Laudato Si, 63). Let us journey to holiness together. “Lord to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. ” (John 6: 68)
