PRINICPAL’S MESSAGE // It is my pleasure to introduce you to three new short films, which tell ‘Our Story’. The first episode, ‘Our History, Our Future’ was released in December 2017.
One of the distinctives of St Paul’s is the International Baccalaureate (IB) and these new short films focus on the educational programmes offered as part of the IB. We are excited to release a new episode each week over the coming three weeks.
The episode released today explores the Primary Y...ears Programme, which is the first of the three IB programmes offered at St Paul’s.
I hope you find this short film a helpful introduction to the exciting educational journey at St Paul’s Grammar School.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN // This week in Pre-Kindergarten, students had a visit from some very interesting bugs. They learnt that a bug is anything with an exoskeleton - learning such a big word proved very popular!
Students had the opportunity to touch a Spiny Leaf Insect and Giant Burrowing Cockroaches. They closely observed an amazing Giant Tiger Centipede, a huge Millipede, a hairy Whistling Spider, a Scorpion that turned aqua under a special light and also met Kirby the Water Dragon, who has his skeleton on the inside.
The incursion was a great way of introducing students to our new unit of inquiry, which is all about living things and their needs.

EVENT // For the next ‘In The Loop’ session, we are delighted that we have been able to book two representatives (from ThinkUKnow and the Australian Federal Police) to speak to our parents. This presentation is an evidence-based cyber safety program that provides information on the technologies young people use, the challenges they may face, and importantly, how they can be overcome. It aims to provide parents with the tools to create a safer online environment for young peop...le in their care, and what they can do to support young people through online challenges.
Date: Monday, 27 August 2018 Time: 7:00pm – 8:30pm Venue: Secondary School Library Who: Parents of students in Years 3 to 12
The presentation will cover what young people SAY, SEE and DO online: • social media reputation management • cyberbullying • ‘sexting’ • online grooming • online gaming • inappropriate content • ‘digital shadow’ • privacy management • identity theft • how to protect your devices • how to report matters when things go wrong
The program bridges the knowledge gap between adults and young people so that everyone has an understanding of the roles they play and what they can do if something goes wrong online. We hope you can join us as we work together to support our students on their educational journey.
Please RSVP to community@stpauls.nsw.edu.au with the names of participants.

They enjoyed their visit so much last year that they requested to visit St Paul’s again with another group of students this year.
The 24 visiting students joined classes with our students and also undertook ESL lessons.
This morning, the visiting students presented a Farewell Performance to some St Paul's staff and Year 11 students. The performance included their school song, some traditional Japanese dance, as well as a presentation on their school and Japanese culture and language.
