Stella Rock Description

We at Stella Rock want to help songwriters, bands, artists, musicians and anyone who makes music, with a completely new way of thinking about how to find an audience. Some are just starting out and some have been recording songs for a long time but never seem to get that big break. We want to give the artist every opportunity to share their music, increase their popularity and make some money to keep doing what they love doing.
I believe that there is so many unknown artists out there doing brilliant work and only a hand-full of people ever get to hear their music. Why is this, it’s something that I have been trying to figure out for a while now. Is it that it’s just to hard and most people just give up? Or is there a system in place where only a select few ever get in and no matter how good or how hard you try you will never get the opportunity to make the big time because you do not fit the profile of what’s hot right now or what is about to be hot. Well the truth is no one knows what is about to be hot and most of the time it surprises everyone. Most of the time we are just subjected to listen to safe rehashed music that was a hit years ago and well if it worked then it will work now and all we will do is just change it up a little bit.
Stella Rock wants to be the avenue to change this, it’s a place where everyone who is making music can post songs on the website and people can come along and listen to them completely free. Then they can tell their friends to have a listen to this band or this artist and so on and so on. Hopefully it turns out to be our own little way of going viral and this way the only manipulation that is going on is done completely be the audience listening to the tracks. If they like someone enough they can buy a track or an album and hey they have that forever and the artists can make a living and afford to keep recording. Everyone wins, that’s why I think this is a great idea and that why I think everyone who is making music and everyone who loves listening to music, going to see bands or watching music videos should support this idea as well and go to stellarock.com and join up The other great thing is it’s totally free which is amazing at the moment with everyone trying to make as much money as they can from the internet. Lets all support independent music and who knows what brilliant new talent we will all discover.

We are desperately seeking unsigned artists and their music for truly independent music website. Go to stellarock.com

The music industry today with the advent on the World Wide Web was supposed to make it easier to get your music out there to a bigger worldwide audience, right? That’s what I thought, I had what I felt was a great song and great video but I only managed around 2000 hits on YouTube with 0 sales on iTunes. I feel it is harder than it has ever been to get discovered or make a meager living selling music on the net. What is happening is that there is something like 100 hours of footage being uploaded to YouTube every hour and music specific website like iTunes are increasing there catalogue at a rapid pace as well. So even if you have a killer song and video to match, you still have to compete with so much content, including cats and dogs doing some crazy stuff on YouTube on an almost endless catalogue of music on iTunes. The chances of you going breaking is getting harder and harder. Talent and hard work are still very important, and building a local fan base offline can help your chances immensely. But why do we have to be content with a local audience if the web is there with the world just waiting to hear us. So I can up with an idea for a web site, Stella Rock (rock star backwards).

I thought back to the day when you could just hang out at you local record store. Yes I know there would be a lot of young ones out there that have never had the chance to even walk it one. What you would do was walk up to the counter they would have a small printed piece of paper with the latest top 40 singles and albums you would pick one of these up, then ask the guy behind the counter what was new and cool, you could listen to some track on a pair of headsets. Then you would sort through the bins of vinyl in the hope of discovering something fresh that you could be the first to tell your friends about and let them know how hip you were being in the forefront of a new wave sound.

What I wanted to do with Stella Rock .com was to recreate this experience online. Even take it one step further so fans can have direct contact with their favorite artists via a comment section on the bands profile page. I wanted to create a hub where unsigned artists can submit music, videos and pictures and sell their songs and albums. So not only will your fans go to the site but other bands and artists, and their fans will go they’re as well. With everyone in the one place it gives people a chance to explore and discover new music, just like looking through the record bins. The benefit to the artist is a whole lot of people looking for something new can find them and it is a worldwide audience. Stella Rock is extremely independent music specific so those people who are not into main stream or just want more variety in music to listen to can find that here. It is a place where unsigned artists can not only sell their music but it is a place to be heard above the noise of the internet, which after all is why we make music in the first place we want people to enjoy it as much as we do.
