I wasn't expecting much and it delivered. Front door was closed at 8pm so I had to trudge through the middle of the pub with my luggage. Staff were friendly though. Lugged everything up to the second floor past the rain stains on the wallpaper, past the peach (or was it gaol green?) coloured walls, over the creaking floorboards with 1940's inspired carpet into my room. If you're thinking you might be having mental health issues, you won't want to stay too long in your room. The sheets were very clean, the mattress had springs (I know because they left marks on my skin) and the shared toilets and bathrooms were very clean and modern. They got the important things right but lets face it, you're only staying here because you can't afford anywhere else.

Value for money on a budget is the best way to describe the Strathfield hotel.
The room was clean and tidy. The decor is very original to the period of the building. The building looks to have been recently repainted.
The shared bathroom was very clean, however could do with a little maintenance.
I stayed on level 2.
The building is only accessible to able body people with a large staircase to access the upper levels.
Overall I felt the entire package was very good value for money.
It's in such a good location. Old and outdated but not uncomfortable. Good for the price

I stayed 2 nights. For the price of a single private room (shared bathroom) it was good. Bed, table, chair, bin, mirror, wardrobe and sink. Towel, soap and ear plugs provided.
The music downstairs is a little loud, and every 15mins or so there was this noise that lasted about 30 seconds (still not sure what it was.) Possibly something like a machine, maybe something to do with the gas for the bar taps.
Its an old place but it has character. Awesome for those who appreciate buildings with a storey.
Bathrooms could have been cleaner but I think that had to do with age.
Overall a good stay for the price and location!
