My husband got me my 30th birthday gift from there. It was designed from scratch and we could choose every little details and stones. Ernst and Sharon are the nicest people and Ernst is great at explaining all the differences and the steps involved in creating your jewellery. I had a good idea of what I wanted in terms of concept but was lost in terms of how it could be done. The result is amazing and I love my ring. Very good value for money too compared to big jewellery franchise as you get high quality and pay what's fair. I would definitely recommend!

I enrolled in the recent Intensive Course with Lucas Blacker at Studio 303 to gain an insight into hand-making jewellery and to create a piece of silver jewellery of my own design. The basic operations are simple: measure, saw-cut, roll, bend, hammer, file, solder, polish – but the actual process may well require blood, sweat and tears. Patience and the will to succeed are a prerequisite for taking part in this type of course. Everything else is catered for: Ernst Pfenninger’s workshop meets every equipment need; Lucas Blacker is a very experienced jeweller/goldsmith and enthusiastic instructor whose passion clearly shows as he demonstrates every step of the way and, if required, even helps students find alternative paths to arrive at the desired result should Plan A not work out… All of that is delivered with great patience and a smile. Ernst once in a while checks whether everybody is happy, looks busy or needs more help, and Sharon Pfenninger keeps everything running smoothly. This course is an excellent entry into hand-constructing jewellery, or students can advance their skills with professional expertise and equipment on hand. Students also gain an appreciation of what is required to keep master jewellers such as Ernst Pfenninger and Lucas Blacker in business!

Buyer Beware, don't order any custom made work from this mob. Massively overpriced and if you dare to question the price or the work will be told " if you are too stupid to agree to this then it is your own fault".

Better quality work can be found at any suburban market and at three quarters of the cost!

My wife supplied the stone for a sterling silver ring that ended up looking like something from a bubble gum machine. Sharon insisted that we got this $500 joke for $100 less than we should have paid for it, and then went on to boast if she put it in her shop window could sell it "easily at $600..but when I asked for the full $500 refund as I was totally unhappy about the poor job done...and Sharon could keep the stone we supplied, she refused, funny that. Come on Sharon, back up your words and resell this in your shop window for $600. My guess is that you would be too embarrassed to display this ring in your shop window. I still have a sneaking suspicion that you had one of your students make it.

I recently completed the intensive course in Sydney with Lucas as the teacher. The course was amazing. I learnt some fantastic skills in addition to being provided with the knowledge to complete Jewellery independently. Lucas very experienced and was able to explain steps in a clear and concise manner making it easy to learn and progress quickly. I will definitely be doing this course again.
