This is just a teaser to our our extensive wine collection.
At Stuyvesant's House, you don't need a favourite wine - just good food!
Stuyvesant's will look after you.
Another favourite - fillet of beef with redwine or béarnaise sauce.
Bite-sized deliciousness! Our Dutch Bitter Balls are ready and waiting.
Danke schön Broadsheet for coming and visiting us! A lovely piece by Nicholas Jordan. He liked our 4000 bottle wine cellar and killer pork knuckle! What does Stuyvesant House mean to you?
An excellent dinner with friends. The food was first class and Rudi chose fantastic wine within our budget. They are entertaining hosts and good value. See you again soon.
Nice food, very Austrian. But the manager was pretty over the top.
Great food.
The best wine list in Sydney. No restaurant comes close.
Beer was good but was charged for supposedly complimentary pretzels that we didn't order (said no to!). We won't be back!
Great service and food. Did everything to appease us after a mistake.
Food was ok but on the salty and dry side. 3 of the orders of 10 arrived incorrect. Deserts were good. Wine list was extensive. Rudy was happy to swear and tell dirty (not so funny) jokes in front of 3 kids (7,10and 11). Luckily we had good company. Like the others, he helped himself to some of our wine.
Delicious food and great company from the owner Rudi.
I am giving a low review since I had a house specialty that was also recommended by staff (schnitzel) that was meh.
However the pork crackling was good, better than what I had - if eating here choose that instead.
We are not fine diners or hard to please but this place was a real let down. Where to start... After managing to manoeuvre into the window sill table for two we were crammed into, we set about ordering drinks. My wife ordered the Mango Daiquiri featured as a special on the blackboard and I ordered a beer. The lady had to be shown the blackboard before sending someone across the road to buy mangoes from Woolworths. After 15 minutes (and my beer finished) she returned to say that the mango daiquiri was not an option so we took her suggestion of a glass of wine and asked for water for the table (both still and sparkling). After a further 15 minutes (and unable to get their attention from our pigeon hole) I walked up and asked for the water and was handed two glasses of tap water. No sign of the sparkling water which we didn't pursue. We ordered our mains and a side of chips. Mains turned up but no side. After 10 minutes we asked the waiter who simply said he didn't put it through and blankly said that he thought my main was big enough not to need a side. No apology offered. I ordered the pork knuckle which while sizeable was very dry (dousing it in apple sauce made it slightly more enjoyable). My wife ordered the medley of sausages which came with luke warm-to-cold mash potato. When we sat down at our table there was already a basket of two dry (Belgian-style) pretzels which we assumed was a gesture (similar to bread in an Italian restaurant). They were palatable only when washed down with liquid but certainly not something we would have ordered. When the bill arrived we found we were charged (from memory) $10+ for these. All up we paid $100 for two drinks and two mains and very poor service and mediocre food.
A good balance between quirky and euro-homely. Main dishes are a bit over priced for the quality, but a glass of wine and an entree here makes for a great start to an evening.
