Currumbin Beach Vikings SLSC have managed to secure a sizeable lead of 75 points at the close of day two of competition at the 2018 National Pool Rescue Championships in Adelaide.
Following in the Gold Coast clubs’ wakes is Maroochydore SLSC on 180 points, Sydney’s Newport SLSC on 145 points, NSW Central Coast clubs Terrigal and Umina sit respectively in fourth and fifth place with WA’s Trigg island following in at sixth.

The Master Blasters take out three International Life Saving World Records
Surf Life Saving Club newbie Deborah Wareing (61 years) of South Australia’s West Beach SLSC has managed to break not one, but two International Life Saving World Records at the 2018 National Pool Rescue Championships currently being held in Adelaide this weekend.
An avid body surfer and former swimmer from a young age, Deborah said she was absolutely thrilled to take out the International Life Savin...g World Record in her division defining the achievement as a real bonus.
In the mean-time veteran surf lifesaver Stephen Fry (60 years) of Queensland’s BMD Northcliffe SLSC and Team Manager for the Queensland Cyclones took to the blocks at the South Australian Aquatic Centre yesterday to challenge his own world record in the 100m Obstacle Swim.
The master has now proven to have gotten even faster in 2018 breaking his own 2017 world record.

Australian records have fallen thick and fast on day one of the 2018 National and Interstate Pool Rescue Championships held at the South Australia Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
In the world class swimming centre which is described as a fast pool, competitors managed to knock over 20 Australian records.
Surf Life Saving Australia Event Manager, Tony Henderson, was very pleased with the first day of competition.
... “The strong rate of records falling today sets Australia up to be a force to be reckoned with come November for the World Life Saving Championships.
“Our athletes appear to be peaking at the just the right time.”
