Accommodation joy No.4 The Pig at Coombe, near Devon. Centuries old Country Manor nestled within 3500 acres in the lush Otter Valley. Steeped in history this hotel has stunning vistas, rich interiors, painted frescos, antiques and artworks, and locally sourced paddock to table dining. The Pig’s fabulous, friendly team really make the whole stay relaxed and like a home away from home. The day we arrived it was misty and gloomy which made snuggling in one of the living rooms an...d playing cards an easy thing to do. The next day brought sunshine and the opportunity to explore the vast veggie gardens and to walk the surrounds. Gumboots provided! Even if you can’t stay it’s worth popping in for a drink or a wood fired pizza and drink in the stone garden Folly. Though you feel a million miles away, The Pig is just 8 miles from the beautiful coastline areas of Lyme Regis and Chesil Beach. Accommodation joy no.3 The Pig, Brockenhurst. Related to Limewood Hotel where I’ve enjoyed a previous stay.This is a much more relaxed hotel. As soon as you enter you feel like you have come to stay at a friends Country House. Amazing decor, delicious food, youthful, friendly service. The incredible veggie and herb gardens, which are picked from to serve up for dinner. A vegetarians culinary paradise! The gardens are beautiful with plenty of places to relax and read. Cozy l...iving areas with richly upholstered chairs, art and antiques. The bar is to die for with a kaleidoscope of coloured glasses and cocktails, and dining within the conservatory space or on the terrace by the fire is just beautiful. Oh and did I mention the bedrooms were comfy, tastefully decorated and as always the Nespresso machine a welcome friend! Faultless.
