Sydney Central Backpackers

I've been in and out of hostels here in Kings Cross for over two months and I can say with absolute confidence that this one has it all. The downstairs kitchen is newly remodeled and one of the most spacious I've seen--and if it's busy in there then there's the option of the rooftop kitchen! The roof is GORGEOUS. Ping pong table, plenty of seating (recliners, chairs, picnic benches) and it has an incredible view of the city skyline. I've really enjoyed being able to cook my dinner on the roof and eat it watching the sun set on the skyline. If that's not enough, the people here are friendly. There's a real community atmosphere and after just one week I feel I've found a family. In short, if I'm in Sydney I know exactly where I'm staying.

Not clean, staffs are not at all good

Great ambiance the people there are the best but the place is not as clean as you would hope it to be

We were greater nicely but there was some disorganisation with bedding and cleanliness. Bathroom toilet was blocked and I informed the staff but they seemed very disinterested. You get what you pay for.

Pros:
- Close to train station
- Close to Coles, Macca's, other restaurants
- Free bread, cereal & milk, tea, sugar, variety of spreads
- Clean bedding
- Helpful staff
- Cleaned multiple times a day

Cons:
- Upstairs smelled horrible. (bought a room freshener...did not help)
- Beds/Pillows were yellow (but you can cover them with bedding)
- Cockroaches in room, Cockroaches in kitchen wall paneling, big fat gnats

Can sleep with the smell if you get drunk first
