Sydney Children'S Choir

From over 100 entries, SCC's Ezra Hersch has been named in the final eight of Artology's Fanfare Competition. The entrants had to write a 30 second composition to assist calling people to their seats at concert venues. After mentor-ship from Nicholas Vines and Lyle Chan, the eight will have their works recorded by the Australian Youth Orchestra. Wow! With Gondwana Choirs nominated for the 2018 Art Music Awards for Songs of My Country being presented in Melbourne tonight, Artistic Director Lyn Williams OAM tells the story of a joy-filled collaboration that brought together two quite different cultures. https://www.gondwana.org.au/2018/08/21/60 79/ And, in this video, Owen Elsley's Boori Guman tells the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji story of man's discovery of fire. The Rainbow Serpent had kept fire to himself until three powerful ...warriors, Djudulu (the pigeon), Jinjarlum (the grasshopper) and Badjin (the little black bird), were tasked to take it from him. Each of the three choirs in Boori Guman represents one of the warriors trying to take fire from the Rainbow Serpent.
Performed as part of Songs of my Country at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall by Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir, the Sydney Children's Choir, and the Vienna Boys Choir, conducted by Lyn Williams.

Gondwana Choirs’ Artistic Director, Lyn Williams OAM is in Tallin to present at the prestigious Europa Cantat XX festival. Lyn’s Atelier for Singers brings Australian music to the Estonian capital and includes music commissioned by Gondwana Choirs from Australian composers. Lyn is among choral music experts from all over the world for a festival of concerts and appearances. In 2019, the organisation that she founded celebrates 30 years and takes its place on the international stage as host of the Gondwana World Choral Festival.

Gondwana Choirs has been announced as a finalist for this year’s Art Music Awards along with Sandy Evans, Andrea Keller, Barney McAll, Carl Vine, Move Records and The Australian Art Orchestra.
Gondwana has been recognised for its 2017 Songs of My Country collaboration with the Vienna Boys Choir and is a finalist for the "Award for Excellence by an Organisation."
The ground-breaking project created by the organisation’s Artistic Director Lyn Williams OAM, drew together the... Vienna Boys Choir and the Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir juxtaposing a choir whose choral heritage dates back several hundred years with a group who represent a culture tens of thousands of years old.
The project evolved to include the world-class #SydneyChildrensChoir in the performance of Songs Of My Country in Sydney and Cairns, a showcase of a remarkable trilogy of choirs.
More than 5,000 people attended Songs of My Country in October to be mesmerised by the Vienna Boys’ Choir, the Sydney Children’s Choir and Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir.
The Art Music Awards, organised by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre, covers jazz, classical and experimental music.
Winners of eleven national categories and state/territory categories will be unveiled on Tuesday, August 21 at Melbourne’s Plaza Ballroom.

An extremely moving day visiting Port Arthur and performing in the old Church. Especially moving to be able to sing the Port Arthur Memorial song for members of the community and to visit and reflect at the memorial. There were many tears and thoughtful moments.
