Expand your universe at Rouse Hill House & Farm in an evening of stargazing, with a fascinating presentation by Indigenous astrophysicist Kirsten Banks.
Tens of thousands of years ago the Darug people observed the night sky from Rouse Hill. As the sun goes down Kirsten Banks, an astrophysicist and a Wiradjuri woman, will reveal the wonders of the night sky through Aboriginal and scientific perspectives.
In this family-friendly event, you will have a unique opportunity to hea...r old and new stories about the cosmos and view planets and stars with astronomers. Go back in time to explore Rouse Hill House by candlelight and experience an 1888 schoolhouse lesson about the Moon, then use modern technology to see the planets and stars up close.
Observe four naked-eye planets – Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn – along with visible constellations, including Sagittarius (the Archer) and Scorpius (the Scorpion). (weather permitting)
This is a Sydney Science Festival event, part of National Science Week.
Bookings essential. Visit our website to find out more: slm.is/stargazing
