Sydney Paediatric Dentistry Description
SYDPD offers a range of multidisciplinary approaches including consultations with other specialists such as oral maxillo facial surgeons, orthodontists, endodontist, periodontist, gum specialist, paediatrician and ENT surgeons, speech pathologists, etc. Although our main role involves dental care, our interest is child welfare. As such, we are able to organise referrals to medical and allied health specialists to address the needs that children face early in life.
We have many years experience of dedicated child dental care, both in specialist practice and in education. Furthermore, we are actively involved in teaching, lecturing and every year we travel overseas to be able to offer the most up to date knowledge in our field.
Sydney Paediatric Dental Practice was established in 1999 by Dr Eduardo Alcaino. It is located in suite 201, 21-23 Burwood Road NSW 2134. Since it was built, we have been joined by three other specialists. Sydney Paediatric Dentistry is a specialist paediatric dental practice that offers paediatric and orthodontic services. In addition we have a number of team members including patients coordinator, senior reception staff, a practice manager, dental hygienists and a number of nursing and other clerical staff. We are also joined by a number of anaesthetists in our practice who take care of our general anaesthetic services.

Today was a sweet TOOTH day
Our donated panoramic X-Ray machine is now installed at the https://csc.org/ (Children's Surgical Centre). We received the following kind words from the Children's Surgical Centre: On behalf of Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), I would like to extend a large thank you for your recent donation of the Orthopantomogram (OPG) machine to our hospital. Your donation is entirely a donation for which you have received no product or service. Your gift is vital to the continuation of o...ur services. It will provide funding, materials, and services for surgery to benefit poor Cambodian people with physical disabilities. Last year, CSC’s Khmer doctors provided patients with 25,318 consultations and performed 4,018 surgical procedures.
Sydney Paediatric Dentistry will now donate the services of a technician to fly from Australia to Cambodia, together with Dr Alcaino to do the final calibration of this machine. We do value to help people who are less fortunate.
Other contributors for making the OPG arrive are: Dr Eduardo Alcaino for donating his OPG machine. Mr Brett Butcher from Henry Schein Halas for serving and bubble wrapping the machine. Mr Owen Turner from TSS Australasis Ltd for proving the timber container and storage. Mr Vu Ngo and Mr Muoi from Hai Son Shipping Co for shipping the machine. Mr Sean Ngu from Khmer Sight Foundation for helping with Customs clearance in Cambodia Ms Thuy Nguyen and Mr Ted Mlynardz for helping with logistics and documentation. Drs Hung Tran, Chinh Nguyen and Callum Durward for their advises.

It is with great joy to let you know that our old OPG machine has arrived into Cambodia. Since we had upgraded ours, Dr Alcaino saw the vision that our old machine which was still in perfect working order can serve other hospitals with not so many resources. The machine has arrived via boat and was installed at the Children's Surgical Centre in Phnom Penh yesterday.

It was a busy weekend for Dr Alcaino, who travelled to Adelaide to share his lecture which was being attending by specialist Paediatric Dentists, General Dentists and Oral Health Therapists. the lecture was on "Sedation in Paediatric Dentistry".

Dr Alcaino, our principal just returned from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, 71st Annual Session, which was held in Honolulu, Hawaii. This meeting was attended by approximately 6,400 delegates. There are approximately 4.03 pediatric dental practitioners for every 100,000 US children under 18 years of age. He brings the latest products, materials and technology back with him which we offer to our patients.Aloha to Dr Alcaino.
