What a talent! Emily Rigz will be sharing some of her fantastic tunes with us this Sunday night. I couldn't think of a better way to round off the evening!
We're feeling pretty folky this week. Eden Green is joining us to play some new tunes, here's one from a little while back.
Doors at 5:30, musicians 6-9.
Nath Morrison bringing the folk this Sunday!
Benny's Beer Reviews says 7/10 "not bad". We'll take it! Cheeky Furphy $5 schooners at Symposium this Sunday and every Sunday ;)
This weeks artist, Lipstik Design, is bringing something a little different. His aesthetic is a retro-futuristic mix of 20's Art Nouveau and 80's airbrush painting, combining photomontage with vector graphics. The work is inspired by late 70s subculture, skateboard, punk, pop art and junk food packaging. He mostly draws mutant pin-up amazons, posing in a flashy, super-sexy and pre-apocalyptic world in which technical graphic symbols from packaging turn into metaphysical abstractions.
A little bit naughty, a little bit crazy cool. Watch him putting this mayhem together this Sunday.
Rounding off this week which I will dub the most soulful week yet at Symposium, is LILLEY. Such a great band to leave a huge grin on your face, come down and soak up the good vibes!
Nardean has been making waves with her new album Creatress, come see her perform at Symposium this Sunday night!
Neophema are so new they don't have any music, and I'm pretty sure no Facebook yet...They're made up of some of the finest musicians in Sydney though, so come get down to some chilled out soul this Sunday night!
ARTIST CALL OUT: We're looking for a visual artist or crafty craftsperson to fill this weeks live painting and showcase! If you or some talented person you know would be interested please send an email to symposiumsydneyart@gmail.com with links to some work (website, instagram etc) and we can sort out the details. Thank you!
Lucy Lowe played at the original Symposium three years ago, and we're so lucky to have her back! She's kicking things off this Sunday night!
PTKBX (AKA John) is a Sydney based artist, designer and creator. John works in gouache a bright, quick drying, lurid medium of pure pigment. He draws diverse inspiration from geek culture, abstract and pop Australiana as well as classic and contemporary Japanese art making. You can watch John put all of this together to see how he creates vivid imagery from familiar objects this Sunday at Symposium. It's weird and it's wonderful.
Check out this beautiful video from Lady Lyon. She's playing this Sunday night, you can come along FOR FREE! Lucky you!
LOLA SOLA is playing this Sunday night! Here's what you can expect, not bad for a New Zealander...
Sydney songstress Darby Music, has been crowdfunding to record a new album, you can help her out with the link below. She'll be playing all sorts of tunes for us this Sunday night!
This week we are featuring some of Sydney's best female singer/songwriters. First up, BILLIE-JEAN! She'll be strumming and singing from 6:00.
