Please join us for the opening night of ‘Der Himmel’ a solo exhibition by Kaspar Kagi. This recent body of paintings are an intriguing insight into the intricate mind of the Artist. Kaspar has held many solo and groups exhibitions throughout Sydney.
In his own words Kaspar states: “To me, these experimental paintings of people and creatures concern the representation of the reality thrust upon human beings via Internet, media, public spaces and the narrow confines of politi...cal thought, which obstruct self-enquiry. By drawing these figures that are losing their structure in a dichotomy that lacks any grander scheme is to experience a peculiar "reality" outside of the one we regularly deal in. Expressing this hostility or love to the world through art is for me the closest nourishment for reaching greater meaning."

Please join us for the opening night of 'Seen&Heard' a collaborative exhibition of photographer Mikhaila Jurkiewicz and designer Erin O'Brien.
This Project is a collaborative effort, inspired by people. First and foremost it is a series of large format film photographs which focuses on women, trans, non-binary and gender diverse people who are doing interesting, exciting, and creative things in Australia. It shines a light on the creative practices of people working in music,... writing, visual art, and those who work in support of women and gender diverse people in these fields and aims to put a focus on the adversities they have faced and how they seek to empower themselves in male dominated spaces.
This exhibition will be running from the 27th July until the 10th of August at Tekminimal. Opening night will be from 6pm-8pm on Friday the 27th.
We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, as the custodians of the land in which this event takes place, and we recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. CIGARETTES & COFFEE 13/7/18 - 20/7/18 Opening night Friday the 13th! 6pm
Cigarettes and Coffee is an exhibition of photography, drawings and poetry by Yehuda Aharon and Danny Sky.
... Aharon uses 35mm film, taking candid photographs of Sydney’s cafe culture. Coffee and Cigarettes captures the busy and chaotic moments of the city in a romantic and nostalgic manor, through the use of 35mm film shot on vintage cameras, all of which he has developed and printed by hand. By exposing his artwork to the uncertain and unpredictable analogue processes Aharon has partaken in every aspect of the images creation. Though not present in the images, he considers the collection at large to be a self portrait, with the artwork as a reflection of the artist.
From the socially acceptable addiction of coffee to the socially unacceptable addiction of cigarettes. Sky turns her attention on a band of outsiders who have only become social outcasts in recent history - smokers. Of course we all know that cigarettes can be fatally detrimental to our health yet they remain legal and the measures the government takes to discourage smoking don’tshow an understanding of the nature of addiction and instead demonise the people they are intended to “save”. In her art, Sky hopes to humanise these people and their choices.
Both Sky and Aharon express in their art a nostalgia for an era they have never known; a time of black and white film photography and public approval for smoking. The motivation behind her work is the, the effects of climate change and global warming on nature and the resultant natural degeneration. Industrialization had treated nature faultily and destructed permanently. In the society we live we witness the boundless destruction of nature that is left by the unconscious exploitation of nature from the ‘footprints of time’. The d...rought of rivers, unfertilization of soil, exhaustion of forests and extinction of habitats is not independent of what humanity is and transform humanity to a different species.
Asiye Sarıoglu graduated from Gazi University I Department of Fine Arts in 1999. Continuing Her Master of Arts studies in Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts. Asiye has had four solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions In Turkey and throughout Europe. Plus awarded a number of expositions in various painting contests.

Definitely in the spirit and tradition of art and the artists. TekMinimal helps support and highlight local art. Sounds simple enough but it's a difficult task. Don't let art become anymore elite and institutionalized than it already is. Don't let art become any more monopolized and bullied by those with the resources and connections. Art supplies cost a fortune and it's a disheartening, discouraging financial situation. The cost is killing the grassroots of communities' local art.
