The Actors Studio Australia Description
The Actors' Studio Australia was founded in 2000 and is dedicated to helping actors develop their craft based on the principles of truth and authenticity in performance. We believe acting training should be more than just glorified direction. We believe that it should be focused on breaking down the craft of acting into elements, skills and techniques, and training the actor to understand each tool intimately. Our process draws on techniques from Stanislavsky, Strasberg and Meisner and is guided by an overarching philosophy from working from a place of truth.

Drop-in acting classes in Sydney are now available for our Screen Acting Technique Class on Thursday evenings.
In weeks 1-3 of the term we will be focussing on skill building exercises, dramatic improvisation and how to work truthfully within a set of given circumstances. In weeks 4-6 we will focus on scripted scene work on camera.
Our groundbreaking approach harnesses a cocktail of techniques from master teachers including Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, Constantin Stanisl...avsky, Ivana Chubbuck and more designed to build performers who bring, depth, honesty and a vivid sense of truth to their work. We unpack the craft of acting with unique clarity and arm the actor one tool at a time. Our approach aims to teach actors to work from the inside out; to work from a starting point of real feelings rather than false external expression; to fill their work with a vital element of truth; and to always be guided by the principle that emotional authenticity is the key to engaging an audience’s imagination.
Our acting courses in Sydney are operated out of Riley Street Studio in the heart of Surry Hills and our acting school caters for actors 18yrs+ only.

Particularly true with respect to acting training. I was speaking with a student last night who was talking about how he had become so frustrated he wanted to quit acting. I asked him why. He said "because I don't think I'm good enough". I asked "is that a perception or a reality?" He said "a perception probably". I agreed. He then said "but then i started to get curious why i was feeling this resistance... and so I doubled down and enrolled for two classes instead of one this term". Smart cookie. Run more people.
