Up close and personal with the artwork "Little Cats B, C and A" Adapted posthumously from the illustration for the 1958 book, The Cat in the Hat Comes Back.
When Ted Geisel wrote The Cat in the Hat, Ellen Goodman of The Detroit Free Press wrote that it was “a little volume of absurdity that worked like a karate chop on the weary little world of Dick, Jane and Spot.” The Cat in the Hat Comes Back brilliantly followed up that “little volume of absurdity” in 1958 by introducing a full alphabetic complement of “cat companions” to help that bad Cat in the Hat out — Little Cats B,C and A! — plus D through Z!

The Abduction Of The Sabine Woman. An edition of 195 Arabic Numbers. Ted Geisel’s earliest and largest oil painting depicts Rome’s legendary episode at the city’s founding celebration (753 B.C.), during which Roman men abducted women from the neighboring Sabines to take as wives in order to populate their new metropolis. Throughout art history, The Abduction of the Sabine Women has been depicted by modern and old masters. @theartofdrseussharveygalleries, In 2 beautiful locati...ons 🚩@theblockarcade 🚩@theqvb . . . . #theartofdrseuss #drseuss #drseussart

HAVE NO FEAR! - MAQUETTE Let's get up close and have a detailed look at the wonderful "Have No Fear" Bronze Maquette from the Tribute Bronze Collection.
To celebrate his artistic legacy, a bronze tribute collection of iconic sculpture was created to pay homage to Ted Geisel’s books, characters, and lasting messages. This marks the first time intimate and large-scale bronze sculptures based on Dr. Seuss’s work are available for public and private acquisition.
... Bronze sculptures from this collection have traveled to, or been permanently placed at, major public and private venues around the United States, including Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, The William J. Clinton Presidential Center, The Preuss School at The University of California San Diego, The Munroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and the Naperville Public Library—Naperville, Illinois.
In honor of the 60th Anniversary, the available bronze works from The Cat and The Grinch will be specially stamped with a commemorative “60” for those castings made during this 60th year celebration. This exclusive collecting opportunity will only be available during this 60th year. Each casting will bear an embedded stamp along with special documentation memorializing the unique nature of these limited castings.

“He couldn’t say ‘I love you’ — he was too private — but he could write it.” says Audrey Geisel of her husband.
New Release - “I Wonder Where My Emma is Tonight?”
💕This Valentines Day give the gift of a true romantic - Art.... Here, a wistful stag allows a pair of woodpeckers to safely court atop his antlers. There is a sense of pride in providing such sanctuary for these lovebirds, although one can’t help but sense a longing for the stag’s own sweetheart, perhaps a doe named Emma?

INCIDENTAL MUSIC FOR A NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY. We’re so happy to have this marvel hanging at our Sydney Qvb gallery. This work embodies all the best of Ted’s musically exaggerated imagination and is an early hallmark that set the stage for an elaborate history of made-up vehicles, machines, and instruments. @theartofdrseussharveygalleries, In 2 beautiful locations 🚩@theblockarcade 🚩@theqvb . . . .... #theartofdrseuss #drseuss #drseussart #sydney #melbourne #whatsonsydney #whatsonmelbourne @ Queen Victoria Building

Jed Mattes, Dr. Seuss’s literary agent from 1974 to 1989, said of him: “Ted was never mean—wicked, yes; but never mean. He was a courteous man of enormous grace and great dignity, and he cut any appearance of pomposity with a magic dose of mischief.” It’s that “magic dose of mischief” that we celebrate with Greenish Cat on Pinkish Pot and Pinkish Cat on Greenish Pot.

Happy Grasshopper on a Mushroom was published for the first time in the Chase Art Companies Retrospective Exhibition that launched Seussentennial in 2004. This little artwork never fails to bring a smile because those who knew Dr. Seuss regarded him as a happy man—happy in his life and in his work; and likely very, very happy when he drew this.

Chase in The Forest now available. Dr. Seuss presents us with a dense forest full of imagination and the boundless energy of his life’s pursuits. The trees, while a strong indication of will and desire, still bend and move to accommodate new thoughts and ideas, much like the twisting and layering of imagination itself. The colors are quintessential Seuss, playful and imaginative, yet painted with a surreal sensibility and the sophistication of an artist chasing his creative p...eak. @theartofdrseussharveygalleries, In 2 beautiful locations 🚩@theblockarcade 🚩@theqvb . . . . #theartofdrseuss #drseuss #drseussart #artoftheday #gallery #timeoutsydney #timeoutmelbourne #sydney #melbourne #whatsonsydney #whatsonmelbourne #artwork #painting #artist #art #artnews #artdaily #artistlife #sydneylocal #sydneykids #melbournemum #melbournestyle #melbournekids #theblockarcade #qvb

Today we are appreciating a very special body of work by Seuss during his Surrealist period. His surrealist paintings are a potpourri of nonsense, these works combine his vivid imagination with a thoughtful understanding of human nature. Wild waves and the delight of flight come together in this Pacific dreamscape—Dr. Seuss’s view from his drawing board. The New Yorker, December 17, 1960, profiled Ted’s Tower studio, the focus of the room being his draftsman’s desk and reclining chair from which he commanded a spectacular 180-degree view of the coastline from Oceanside to Mexico. Audrey recalls, “I can’t imagine Ted really being productive without that view.”

My sister was called today and we instructed to pickup a Dr Seuss product by one of your staff members at the QVB gallery.

When my wife and sister greeted your representative at approximately 5:30pm today, after travelling for over an hour, they were told they could not pick up the product as your business had not received funds from your finance institution.

My sister had travelled over an hour to pickup the item and arranged to leave work early to do so. We told your staff member this and at that point she laughed and said "at least you left work early". The overall demeanour of this staff member was smug and there was a very low level of customer service shown.

The girl was of a slim build, brunette with black thick framed glasses.

If there was an issue with your financial institution and had we been contacted this would not have been an issue. But your staff member made my sister and wife very upset through her condescending tone.

I find this absurd and quite frankly shocking. I will be sharing this experience quite publicly and I demand a response from your staff regarding this matter.

***update***

The curator of the gallery offered his apologies and mailed the items at no cost.
