Important Notice to the Members
I have read a number of comments being distributed via Facebook regarding the changes being put forward by the Board regarding registrations at the AGM in Melbourne. The majority of these comments are not at all accurate with what the Board is asking the Membership to vote on at the AGM.
The Board has been debating and consulting with the Membership on a number of issues that have led to changes that they believe will address the evolution of t...

Important Announcement:
Dear Members,
At a recent Branch Meeting of the ASHS concerns were raised regarding the proposed changes to the Stud Book, allowing the registration of cloned Horses.
... The current rules & regulations of the Society are as follows:
2.4 Other Breeding Techniques: 2.4.1 The Society accepts progeny resulting from Natural Service, Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfers as defined in the Rules and Regulations. Members considering other breeding techniques need to apply to the Board for acceptance of the technique or otherwise, together with conditions and requirements for same.
The above rules & regulations remain unchanged under the proposed changes with cloned Horses not being eligible for registration.
By adopting the proposed changes, this will also ensure progeny of cloned Horses are ineligible for registration as the cloned parent would not be eligible for registration in the Breeding Appendix or any other category.
I trust this provides clarity & addresses any concerns. Chief Executive Officer

REASONS TO REGISTER
Why should a breeder or owner go to the time, trouble and expense of registering a foal or horse?
1) Identification of the horses' markings and brands are permanently identified.... 2) Validation of the horses' bloodlines, age and progeny are recorded. 3) Ownership is identified on the horse's registration papers, and when someone buys a horse, the transfer into their name can be recorded on the registration certificate. 4) Recognition of achievements in the performance arena or sale ring are ways that a registered horse, its breeders and owners can be recognised.
If you buy a horse that is not registered, you have no guarantee that you can obtain the correct documentation to enable the horse to be registered. Details provided for an unregistered horse may have less integrity or reduced opportunities for activities within the equine industry.
Register your horse TODAY - visit www.ashs.com.au/horses for more registration information and a complete list of horse registration fees.
