About The Chalet Guesthouse And Studio

The Chalet is a heritage, luxury accommodation venue in Medlow Bath close to the Hydro Majestic. Weekend Restaurant open to the public. Book accommodation direct for discounts.

The Chalet Guesthouse And Studio Description

Bed and breakfast style accommodation in an historic home. All rooms have private facilities, some with big claw foot baths and some with walk in showers. Set in the quiet village of Medlow Bath, it is only a short walk to the historic Hydro Majestic Hotel, and a short drive to Leura /Katoomba and /or Blackheath where the majority of attractions, dining and shopping areas are found. We only have seven guest rooms so you can be assured of a more personalised service than the big hotels.

Our restaurant is open to the public nearly every Friday and Saturday night and offers a delicious limited choice menu with everything prepared on the premises by our wonderful chef. Check our main website for example menus.

The Chalet is filled with our private collection of Australian art, ceramics and collectables. Many of our guests like to take some time to admire the works in the collection.

We are always happy to help with information about what is available to see and do in the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park. The most commonly mentioned regret is the guests wish they could stay longer and experience more of what is on offer.

Charming people, great hospitality and enforced relaxation with no TV. Excellent, great value dining in the evening. They cater for gluten free coeliacs.

Our family stayed here earlier this year. It is a fabulous old building, in a beautiful part of the world. The art works and collectibles are fascinating. My son was unable to sttend due to an accident. So we were unable to give any notice, yet we still weren't chsrged. Yes, you could stay on the other side of the highway, but you will really enjoy the Chalet!!

David(s) were very friendly - I broke my foot early on in my trip and David M offered and did pick me and my wife up at the train station - even got worried that we didn't show up on time. Also drove us to a favorite spot that was less traveled but just as if not more beautiful than the main tourist area. When we come back to Sydney, we will definitely come back to stay and visit.

Very interesting place, an old reformed house, very well decorated, full of art and antiques. The restaurant is a feast for the eyes as well as the food. Also everything I tasted was delicious. Many interesting books were scattered throughout the house in elegant piles. The room is cosy and the shower is just perfect.

We had a lovely weekend staying at the chalet guesthouse over the Easter weekend.
Our hosts were very nice and very knowledgeable of the local areas.
The place is full of interesting artworks and ceramics. One can easily spend half a day finding little treasures here and there.
The room was spacious and charming. It was clean and had all the necessities you would require for a weekend getaway.
Since it was easter we even got a surprise bag of Easter eggs! Just to show how thoughtful the hosts were.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relax place to stay up in the blue mountains.

My mother and father have both stayed but I haven't. They said it was lovely. I have had a number of great meals here. Fantastic art. Check out the coloured pastel Dikerson...most unusual.

The Chalet Guesthouse and Studio is a delightful place to stay, with old world charm in the beautiful upper Blue Mountains. Close to bushwalks and the townships of Katoomba and Blackheath, the Chalet is in an excellent location if you want to explore all that the Blue Mountains have to offer. Your host, David, is very friendly and will look after your needs. The Chalet restaurant serves a selective menu to tantalize your tastebuds - the food is superb. The rooms are charming and have been thoughtfully restored. The other David is a artist, and a collection of his and other artists' works adorn the walls of the rooms, hallways and shared spaces. The large fireplace in the dining room was one of our favourite spaces for enjoying a tea/coffee.

My criticisms are only minor. It would have been nice to have some clean, dry towels on the second day, and the centrally heated room got a little cool on the second night.

I highly recommend the Chalet to anyone who would like to experience the authentic Blue Mountains in a charming location.

We stayed 2 nights at the Chalet. This is a wonderful place to stay. We had room#3,the suite. The room was quiet (thanks to our neighbors) and clean with a very nice bathroom. A cold breakfast was included and with a small additional charge a warm breakfast could be ordered which we did not do. The whole place has all its walls covered with beautiful work of arts. Highly recommended.
