The Chemistry Of Cadavers, Canines And Contraband At Uts Description

This Facebook page serves as a line of communication for all matters related to the Forbes' research group at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). This group falls under the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and the Centre for Forensic Science (CFS) research strength. The group is headed by Prof. Shari L. Forbes and involves collaborations with other research groups at UTS, law enforcement agencies, and other domestic and international institutions.

Studies performed in this research group have a broad range of topics but focus mostly on performing volatile compound profiling from biological matrices, forensic evidence, deceased remains, and contraband such as explosives and drugs. This information is relevant for understanding scent-detection canine responses, which is also most often studied alongside the chemical profiling being performed. Through this page we hope to showcase the vast range of projects encompassed as part of Prof. Forbes’ research platform.

Prof. Forbes is also the Lead Investigator for the Australian Facility for Experimental Taphonomic Research (AFTER) which will launch in 2016. This page will provide information regarding developments, resources and ongoing projects related to this decomposition facility.

Inquiries about this page can be sent by private message to the group coordinators.
