If you want to be in a great aussie pub this is the place to be..

User

OK pub, has a lot of potential but expectations of a suburban pub are now a lot higher than they used to be and Port Kembla's pubs haven't kept up.

This pub has a great atmosphere. It's fun and casual. The bistro is great. The cheap Tuesday deal is really good value. They have rump/ schnitzel with salad and chips for $12. The steak is excellent quality and schnitzel is perfectly crumbed, light and crisp on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Definitely the best schnitzel I have had in recent memory. Beers are pretty standard. No craft beers or anything fancy, but it's a good solid local venue that caters for the "after work" market. They have a little beer garden with a huge screen for watching sports and what not. Good for big matches. The poker machine area can get very smoked up at times, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. That's the only downside to this place.

Good place for quick catchup.. Food serving time is quick compared to other places. Closer to the train station..

User

Horrible food, terrible service. Took order incorrectly and when I told the chef I had ordered mushroom sauce not pepper sauce he scrapped the pepper sauce off and just added mushroom sauce. Good tasted terrible and took too long

Was a regular but will never go back

The review is for the Commercial Hotels upstairs area only as a function venue. The Commercial is a well appointed pub for the area and we really liked the set up for the function we attended. There's enough space for 40 people in the upstairs area with the indoor seating and outdoor balcony space. The staff are friendly albeit at times slightly clueless about the food they are catering and drinks but it's hardly noticable. I'd definitely recommend the Commercial as a venue for a birthday or corporate celebration.

Its ok for a pub. Pleasant atmosphere. Food is nice

User

A big pub with a great reno that created many different areas - plus the lunch specials at $17 including a drink are good value and well prepared - worth a visit.

User

Popular spot for a drink. Upstairs bar is recommended as it has a nicer decor and atmosphere. I occasionally come here for organised functions and like the historical value of this hotel.

Love the food, friendly staff and amazing value for money. Always look forward to coming back. Thank you!

I have revised my rating to 1 star due to the staff silliness and food quality when I was last there at a get together with friends. We were given a good seat at first, but due to it being trivia night, we were asked to accommodate the sound equipment which took forever to set up, we were standing around waiting him to finish only to find we no longer had enough seats, some of us were eating standing up or getting chairs to sit on. We were not even offered alternative seating. Of course the hotel staff knew it was trivia night, I wonder why such a large group was assigned that seating. The get together was a scattered ruin. I ordered salt and pepper squid. It was tasty but I was a bit sick afterwards. It felt like it was cooked in oil that was reused multiple times. #NoCommercial

Nice cheap eats. Go when they do specials and you will get good value for money. They sometimes do $10-$15 steaks from Monday - Wednesday. Just check on their website for specials

User

Good food, reasonably priced accommodation with nice rooms, and very friendly staff. Parking area available around the back if you're on a bike shop it's not left on the street. Overall a grassy place you spend a night or two if you're touring the area.

Normally eat here quite frequently... This time I ordered the lamb cutlets and the first two where perfect but the 3rd was off. Three people on my table could smell it was. Took to chef, he took a bite and said its fine. Nothing else mentioned and didnt even offer to replace the cutlet.

Very disappointed...

User

Basic country pub ... a bit grungy perhaps ... helpful staff and fantastic tender steaks cooked exactly as requested !

User

Nice little country pub
