About The Domain, Sydney

The Domain is Sydney's playful heart. A vibrant, living, community space where events are held and Sydneysiders come together to run, play and chill.

The Domain, Sydney Description

The Domain surrounds the Royal Botanic Garden. In colonial times this land was the Governor’s buffer of privacy between his residence and the penal colony. Roads and paths were constructed through the Domain by 1831 to allow public access. Since that time it has remained a place for the people and each year hosts several community sport, music and lifestyle events and festivals. Every day thousands of city workers enjoy using the space for activity and recreation. The Domain is an oasis in the heart of Sydney.

The Domain is part of and managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust.

It was like Fort Knox to get into and out of

The drink queues and toilet lines were tragic.

Poorly planned , the stage wasn't big enough for the orchestra , the featured guest artists were squashed in front of them . Missing the usual large screens typical of concert events, you couldn't see a thing on the stage.

It was the wrong type of venue for the talent. Did not suit a festival type event .

Should have been at the state theatre or somewhere more intimate . But of course greedy promoters ....

JPY was the surprise encore, but there was no build up to him, lots in the audience wouldn't have even known who he was , until he started singing his hit song , missed opportunity there .

The organisers made an offer for people to return cans for a refund, but didn't promote it, obviously a token gesture. Many people collected cans to get the refund at the end of the show , but very conveniently, the recycle tents had shut down and no refunds were able to be claimed . Funny that,...

Then the highlight was actually trying to leave the venue. Instead of opening up the numerous emergency exit gateways around all sides of the Fort Knox enclosure, you all had to file out in one pack down some ill conceived fenced off corridor, that much to everyone's amusement , was broken through by frustrated patrons, who like many could not see the point of this mode of exit.

Very disappointing. I enjoyed listening to the Melbourne symphony orchestra version on iTunes more that I enjoyed this live event .

I hope his was helpful.
