About The Hiv Book Project

Phil Shipton and Roy Wilkins came together through the Ankali Project. A Sydney based project that supports people living with HIV. It is from here that The HIV Book Project was born.

The Hiv Book Project Description

The HIV Book Project aims to document a social history via a series of portrait style images and interviews with HIV + people and others who have had a major impact within the HIV community in and around Sydney. Our intention is to document the changing nature of HIV in relation to disease status change to chronic from acute, improved anti-retroviral treatments and general societal values towards HIV + people in 2017. We consider this an art project and is not for profit.

The goal is to publish a book in mid 2018 and collaborate with others doing similar projects around the world and present our stories and images at The Global Village in Amsterdam at the 2018 World AIDS Conference.

Roy (photographer) and Phil two friends had this idea and are working collaboratively to produce a quality publication on the state of HIV, told to you via images and real life HIV stories.

For more information or to volunteer as a HIV + model please contact us.
