About The Key

Acupuncture is one of the fastest growing complementary therapies in the West. In surveys investigating the use of complementary medicine, it is consistently cited as the treatment most commonly used. Many people ask themselves "What can Acupuncture treat?" To be honest it's more a case of, what can't it treat?. It's effects are wide-ranging and broad. Because Acupuncture is holistic, it treats people physically, mentally and spiritually, and deals with a whole range of acute and chronic problems.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is part of a whole spectrum of treatments known as Chinese Medicine. Along with herbs & massage, it is one of the most ancient systems if treatments known to mankind. The origins date back to at least 2000 years ago when the first Chinese texts were written. The fact that it still survives today gives credence to it's efficacy.
The word 'Acupuncture' is derived from Latin roots. The Latin word 'acus' means a needle, & Acupuncture means 'to puncture with a needle'. If you've had Acupuncture, you'll know treatment is carried out by inserting a few fine sterilised single-use needles into points on your body. These points ate located on 'channels' along which energy (or Qi) flows. Qi underlines the balanced functioning in the body and when it becomes blocked or deficient, we become unhealthy. The points are carefully chosen by the practitioner in order to disperse any blockages & to bring your Qi into a better balance. The more this balance is achieved & maintained, the healthier you become.

Andrew’s passion for Acupuncture began after receiving treatment himself. Overwhelmed by the effectiveness of this form of therapy, he began studying it at the Sydney Institution of Traditional Chinese Medicine. His studies took him as far abroad as Guangzhou, China, where he worked for three months in the Guangzhou Hospital of TCM.

Over the years, Andrews own personal journey, plus his studies in TCM, have enabled him to understand the link between mind, body & spirit. What affects one, affects the other. Acupuncture is a true form of holistic therapy which not only treats the symptoms, but also the root cause of the problem by rebalancing the body’s internal environment.

While Andrew treats patients for a wide range of ailments - including headaches & migraines, muscular aches /pains, dizziness, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, PMT, back pain & sciatica - his particular area of interest lies within treating patients with mental health issues linked with:

Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Addictions
Insomnia

A common misconception about Acupuncture is that it is a painful procedure. In actual fact, it’s a very calming and relaxing form of treatment and many people have come to rely on it in order to improve their health and general well-being.

It is based on the concept that any ailment is due to an imbalance of the flow of energy (Qi) in the body. As Andrew places the tiny sterile needles into certain acu points around the body, the flow of Qi is stimulated and imbalances corrected, therefore improving the patient’s overall condition.

While acupuncture was founded in China centuries ago, today it is a very common form of treatment for people right across the globe. Acupuncture has stood the test of time because quite simply, it works.
