Memorial Service Sunday 11th November at 9am.
Each year the Mater Hospital holds a memorial service to acknowledge and pray for those who have died in our hospital and in our wider community. This year our mass will be on the 11th November which will also allow us to commemorate Remembrance Day and those who have died in the war.
If you have lost someone this year or you would like to gather with our community for prayer please join us in the hospital’s chapel on the Ground ...Floor at 9am.

This week is Pastoral Care Week. We have a fabulous team of ten pastoral carers here at the Mater! They are qualified professionals committed to the emotional and spiritual well-being of each of our patients. They work with our clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the best possible care for our patients.
Here are some photos of our pastoral care team with other members of staff, as well as Sr Margaret, Sr Georgette and Fr John sharing a cuppa.
We encourage you to say h...ello, have a chat and acknowledge our pastoral care team this week. Feel free to ask them about the work they do in the hospital, and take some time to celebrate the unique, intimate, and deeply meaningful work they do.
Happy Pastoral Care Week to Bev, Christina, Angela, Emma, Fran, Mary, Alexander, Di, Jenny and Mary!!

The Mater was delighted to share in celebrating with the Australian Catholic University, the awarding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship for two deserving Indigenous Bachelor of Nursing students. Renee and Jacinta are currently completing their studies at ACU and their clinical experiences at the Mater. They are pictured here with Learning and Development Manager, Pete Goodare and Mission Integration Manager, Louwana Saba.
For more information on this scholarship please contact Louwana or Pete at the Mater Hospital.

Mercy Day was celebrated last week. This day has always been an important reminder of the history and legacy of Catherine McAuley and her courageous work in opening the first "House of Mercy" in Dublin in 1827, and the subsequent courageous work of the Sisters of Mercy here in Sydney who founded the Mater Hospital in 1906.
We were very blessed to have a number of the Sisters join us for mass on Sunday 23rd, and here are some pics of them sharing a cuppa afterwards.
We wish them a year ahead of renewed spirit and joy in the work they do. Happy Mercy Day!

Today is Social Justice Sunday!
We celebrate Social Justice Sunday on 30th September. This year, the Australian Bishops’ Social Justice Statement is titled “A Place to Call Home: Making a home for everyone in our land.” The Statement challenges us all to confront Australia’s growing rate of homelessness and unaffordable housing.
The Statement can be found and read at the link below:
