Suzuki Early Childhood Music classes are aimed at teaching key musical principles such as rhythm, beat, and pitch through playing musical games. It is a fun way to introduce children to music, whether they want to learn a musical instrument or other musical activities like dance. They also learn important social skills such as playing with other children, concentration, and waiting to take turns. But the most important thing is that it is an enjoyable experience for you and your child! The classes assist in the development of the following skills:

- Pitch
- Rhythm and Beat
- Dynamics (loud and soft)
- Number skills and counting
- Language and literacy
- Taking turns and sharing
- Sequencing
- Size and direction
- Vocabulary
- Finger independence
- Eye tracking and crossing the midline.

The group classes are held weekly for 50-60 minutes. Skills are developed through nursery rhymes, speech patterns, action songs, finger play, circle songs, story telling and other musical activities. All children have several opportunities to play various instruments including xylophone, glockenspiel, drum, triangle and two-tone block.

The classes are open to children from age 3 months to 3 years as well as 3 years to 5 years, and all children are encouraged to participate in all activities. If the child is too young to do the activity on their own, the teacher or their parent /carer helps them to do it. In most cases children have a strong reaction to music from a very early age. The ability to hear is developed 3 months before birth, so it’s never too early to start listening to music. And at three months of age most children will become calm when music is played to them.

The benefits of early childhood music programs are long term, and the skills learned are beneficial for all future learning, both artistic and academic.
