They could clearly not cater for a big group. The service was absolutely terrible! The food was ok but the service was just not good enough. They would have known and should have being prepared that they we were going to have a large group and being able to cater to our needs but they just couldn’t meet our demands. Some of our team were not served food and when they were the standard was just not good enough. Clearly this place is a great bar but it definitely it’s not a place to have a work function!! And when we asked for more food we were told ‘no’!! I would never have a work function there again!!!

Aside from not having an entry that looks like a bar, this place is awesome. I really enjoyed the chill, after work vibe happening here. Shiraz gin and other good selection. Made me happy. Definitely will come back.

Great location, but a little difficult finding it especially being my first time. Service was really slow! But, they com0ensated with their friendliness and food.

I didn't get to try the lobster, but the overall quality was great! I will edit my post with the food I tried later.

The roof opens at night when it's a warm night. It is not an open rooftop either. Great spacing, but looks better in the photos. Cool vibe to bring a date or a group

Tasty burgers and delicious cocktails set in a very cool venue. Our burgers came out very quickly after ordering.

Another fantastic hidden away, late night haunt. Lobster rolls and perfect cocktails. Cool vibe and atmosphere.

I really like this place for a casual business lunch. At 12pm, you can usually still get a table, but by 12.15, the place is full. Very nice interior design, and the food is very good. I usually have the Chicken Burger with jalapenos (can't remember the proper name). Waiting times are normal, obviously a bit longer when it gets busy. Look out, this place is VERY easy to walk past, you basically have to go into the entrance of a standard business building and take the elevator to the top floor ("R" on the elevator panel).

The Rook holds both a restaurant and a cocktail bar, separated in two areas.
Cocktails are excellent and the presentation is on point. Food is also very good, many lobster-based dishes and burgers.
Great atmosphere and nice service.
There is no sign to indicate it from the street and it looks like an office entrance. You can book or just drop by as they have plenty of space for walk-ins and you drink a cocktail after putting your name on the wait list.

Fun, cool, tasty, boozy. It gets too loud, but apart from that it is spot on. Great burgers and related food (fried pickles!!), Tasty cocktails, and a good atmosphere. Not cheap, but consistently fun.

User

Loved the drinks and atmosphere! We had a bar tab and got a cute cassette! Wasn't a fan of the portion size for the lobster, way too small.

One of my favourite venues in Sydney for some time now. Outstanding Service and amazing Cocktails. Only complaint is they recently cut down their beer list and replaced a few of the items with more mainstream beers.

Not sure what happened to The Rooks menu.. Complete downgrade to what used to be a simple but perfect burger and lobster joint. The burgers WERE brilliant flavours and sizes with great fat chips on the side. The cooks/ownership has clearly changed as the new the burgers were lacklustre and dry. We had the Little Miss Mac; patty was overcooked and dry. The Off The Grill burger was a dismal piece of chicken, lacked avo and on a crappy bun. The Billy Ray was only slightly better though the pulled meat wasn't marinated well and there wasn't enough slaw.
The chips were just horrendous; covered in so much chalky seasoning coating, cold and stale. The only positive was the waitress understanding of the food when she saw out plates coated in bad seasoning and removed them from the bill.
I will be back for drinks but not for food!

It's fun, with friendly servers. Cute drinks. Food was good too. Too loud for my liking, but then I'm a grandma
