The Scary Canary

Really nice place to pop into on a Sunday arvo. The cheeseburger was great but the 50c wings were so morish! So full when we left! Staff were prompt and courteous.

Bouncer was distracted by a girls t*ts, let us in without proper id check, we returned later and the same bouncer refused my girlfriend entry as it was her 18th and he thought she had to wait until the following night of her birthday to go in. Her birthday was the 23rd and it was nearly the 24th when he refused entry. Also lied about the closing times as he was trying to avoid letting us in even if it was legally a day after she had turned 18. Nice

Good bar with food, they have a good menu which is affordable and they always do happy hours or deals on alcoholic drinks.

There is a nearby hostel so pretty much every night, especially the weekends, it's full of awesome travellers.

It's a must visit if your want good food, drink and company.

Incredible place with a great atmosphere. Went here with a few of the lads for a few cheeky pints and some food, ended up wasted and feasting on wings and cheeseburgers. Service was awesome and for the amount we drank, and the antics we got up to, it's a credit to the establishment that none of us got kicked out. I'm in love with a scary canary xoxo

Yummy pub food and a cosy atmosphere. A good place to meet old friends.

Had a late lunch there today with my Mum and girlfriend. Place was pretty close to the qvb but the food turned out to be something left to be desired. A few of the food items we asked for were unavailable at the time and what we got was pretty lackluster. The bacon was under cooked, the corn was overcooked, and the portion size of prawns was really small for the price, etc... The staff was fairly inattentive and impersonal. Was okay for a drink due to the okay atmosphere and decent music but that's about all they have going for them.

Group of maybe 20. Female door person singled out no less than 6 people to refuse entry. Seemed completely arbitrary. She just needed to feel useful? Ruined a perfectly good night for a bunch of work mates. I'll personally ensure none of our companies return.

First time coming here and I ordered a beer that cost $7.5, but I ordered it 5min to happy hour where all drafts are $5 but the bartender didn't mention this to me, if she had I would have gladly waited 5min to save $2. Not friendly or helpful. Not happy. Wack!

Its a miracle i can remember my visit to this venue. Me and my group had a wonderful time here. Cheap, good drinks, awesome music, and a nice spacious dancefloor. What more can you ask for when looking for a good time in Sydney?

What a joke! Didn't get let in @ 2130 because I was too 'drunk'.
Sober as a judge, had to drag my friends out of the bar so I wasn't left alone in the street.
What kind of qualifications do these guys have?

I can't complain here the music was great, $4 drinks if you are a student and there was such an energetic vibe. No entry fee before 10pm. Would definitely recommend the scary jars as they taste delicious

Drinks are cheap with one pool table. Backpackers setting but good for a quick drink. Next to train and bus transport

Scary Jars or whatever they're called are stupidly watered down. Bar attracts overly rowdy patrons, most being backpackers who think they're immune to rules. I was sexually harassed twice in there and a guy took my drink out of my hands, mixed it with his own and gave it back to me, I had to abandon my $11 drink. There was a lap-dance competition(?) basically to see which dude would pop a boner first. Wouldn't call it a classy place.
