This is what the installation of over 300 paintings looks like!
Our amazing team of expert conservators, curators and exhibition creators worked tirelessly to create this fabulous new exhibition in our newly refurbished Dixson Galleries.
The exhibition features selected portraits and landscapes ranging from the 1790s to today. Discover through the collection the extraordinary and the everyday, the famous, notorious and unknown, rare and recent views of Sydney and the harbour,... suburban streetscapes and burgeoning rural townscapes.
See ‘Paintings from the Collection’ - now on permanent public display. www.sl.nsw.gov.au/exhibitions/paintings-c ollection

How much did the elephant pay to cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge?
In 1932, six elephants from the Wirth’s Circus Company were charged two pence each by the toll collectors to make their way across the newly opened bridge. Unlike many of the other Bridge crossers of the day - it's safe to say they probably didn't try to hide extra passengers in their trunk to avoid the toll.
Discover more fascinating stories from The Bridge in the final episode of our five-part series, released today: http://thebridge.sl.nsw.gov.a
