Seriously degraded in the level of service.
While the setting is just the same in QVB, the level service is just not up to the standard it used to be anymore.
The maître d' was waiving the menu in my face while spoken to me in a condensending tone" Have you being with us before?", signalling me to take the old and tatty book off her hand immidiately when I was trying to settle in.
The waiter was rubbing her nose repeatedly while taking my order. Gross!
The tea was weak.
I remember the place used to fill up your tea pot with Royal Albert Water jug, now they just bring the kettle out.
What happen to class? Seriously dissapointing.

This definitely one of the very best tearooms in Sydney.
The high teas are superbly executed by a well trained and efficient staff.
This salon is perfect for special occasions.
The setting in The QVB ballroom is delightful and offers privacy

Great atmosphere, great setting and good experience, although the high tea food items were fairly average. It was also unusual that they made us order a tray each between 6 people...we were happy to order it, but it seemed like overkill that it was "mandatory"

Lovely afternoon tea -- the diversity and quality of sandwiches and the rest was impressive

Tasty savory pastries, like an Indian samosa and a bite-size quiche, were some of my favs. The desserts were also excellent. The sandwiches were not on the same level, but they were fresh and enjoyable. The tea was a bit weak, but we drank a lot of it over 2 hrs, so maybe that's a good thing. The comfortable chairs, nice decor and relaxing music made us want to stay all day. We'll definitely be back.

A nice place to enjoy for the afternoon. Good food and tea choices. Only negative is they are only 2 hour sitting sessions.

What better thing to do on a gloomy Sydney day than to catch up with friends for a high tea. We headed up to the beautiful QVB tea rooms, at the top of he QVB building on George Street and were warmly greeted by staff who found our group of 6 a table without having booked prior. We were ushered into the lovely tearooms adorned with arched windows overlooking the city and cystal chandeliers hanging above and taken to our neatly set table.
Staff kindly explained the intricacies of the menu, including various options including a cocktail, sparkling or champagne afternoon tea and alerted us to the numerous varieties of tea available, over 50!
We decided to go with the traditional morning tea, which for $50 suited all our budgetary needs. We were served a number of delicious savoury items including finger sandwiches, leek quiche and chicken &a vegetable samosas followed by a delectable selection of petit fors and scones, of course served with jam and cream.
We found the staff to be very attentive, regularly refilling out water and teapots and were exceptionally accommodating to dietary needs.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the tea rooms and would recommend it for those looking for a quiet escape of the hustle and bustle of the city or for those looking for somewhere to catch up with friends for a day out.

A relaxed atmosphere with nice furnishings. For those who are yet to experienced high tea, this would be a great place to visit with a group. A popular place for tourists visiting Sydney.

Came here for a wedding reception. Food was good and done well. The venue was quite small but quite ornate inside.

User

Food and Tea was good. The ambiance in the room was terrible. It feels like a huge open room that hasn't been properly designed for an intimate or cosy experience. Servers were ok, but not to the same quality that you get in London.

Best High Tea in Sydney. Beautifully restored QVB Historic Ballroom with amazing Crystal Chandeliers and Posh & comfortable Decor to enjoy a High Tea catching up with family or friends. Staff were wonderful. The scones were big so we shared one & took one home. It was great to spoil ourselves for the afternoon with delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Went to a friend's wedding here. Nice venue and surprisingly cozy and beautiful decor. Comes with a dance floor. Food was good so if you are looking for a good indoor wedding venue, this is an excellent option. As part of the package, the newlyweds also get a free overnight accommodation at the Hilton.
