Good Morning ! The routines of a normal morning ‘went out the window’ today! No pot of tea, no abc radio, no toast with generous slab of butter and two fried eggs!
Instead I opted to listen to my thoughts. It maybe morbid, but I was telling myself that none of us are getting out of here alive. None ZERO!
You know ! Eat the good food, smile, be kind, work hard & enjoy each moment type thoughts!
... So, I just polished off a bowl of vanilla ice cream with m&m’s and a dollop of ‘wicked’ rice pudding (a very generous dollop), jumped on the quad bike to do my daily rounds of the cattle and sheep, returned back to the house and played some music (loud, like if I had neighbors they would complain type loud) and busted a few moves (to work off that bowl of deliciousness)
All by 6.50am ! Now to work hard 🤣😁 #breakyourroutine #enjoyyourfriday

Today, Mum and I hit the road ! Excited because i got to take the new Potting Shed Wagon for a spin and fill it with NEW STOCK ! A nice upgrade from the horse & cart 🤣....Old is New again at 348 😁 ! {Thank you} I would like to say a BIG thank you to Tenterfield Shire Council. Council meet with me last week at 348. It was a very proactive meeting outlining my expansion projects and upgrades to our store.
Lodging a DA - development application for a pre existing building for a ‘change of use’ is an amazing process.
It flags all sorts of building/ entry upgrades. A robust discussion regarding scale to economy for such large capital funds to be spent on pre existing build...ings in country towns with small economies was had. I truly believe that it’s grinding growth and potential development within rural communities.
My minor works application was received positively from council and I’m looking forward to the DA process.

My father first came to Tenterfield 50 odd years ago as a 12 year old boy rabbit shooting on a property down the western side.
As a youngster he would never have thought that one day his parents, my grandparents would purchase the property; this was 37 years ago this coming June.
My grandmother tells the story, that the flats at Sunnyside were frosted and it was a bitterly cold day when they arrived at Braeburn.
... I was born the same year, 1982! My love affair for farming and Tenterfield began. A place totally foreign to the tall buildings and hustle and bustle of the ‘big smoke’
My grandparents ran sheep and at the time employed a couple to manage the property. I hold very fond memories of Sid. He called us ‘nits’ and we would walk all day. From the house out to the very back paddock to muster sheep. He never complained and neither did we.
They seemed like simple days. The working dog fitted in your top pocket when it was a pup, so it’s name was ‘Pocket’ and on those freezing cold days we sat in front of the fire. Pat his wife, would play the piano and sing to us as children. I knew the words to ‘Danny Boy’ by age 5.
I believe we walked every square inch of the place. Countless hours in the wool shed and sheep yards and popping corn kernels on the old stove top.
Sheep and wool etched into our fibres. Some 37 years on and here I am. #tenterfieldrocks
