**The Hip Hinge Pattern**
Today we look at the hinge pattern again.
I belive, one of the most underated patterns in the gym, the hip hinge is usually the second or third exercise, behind squats and lunges, that people will go to when they are looking to build strength or strip body fat.
... We see it so much (all the instagram booty shots out there will atest to that), people want that shapley backside. They claim that all you have to do is squat!
Well, squating does help build the lower body build strength & size (if that's what you're after) but it is a quad dominant exercise, so it will mostly the quads that are the beneficiaries.
For you to build strength, size, shape or whatever you want in the backside, you need to use it - plain and simple!
Now, deadlifting is an awesome way to exercise the glutes - BUT, what if you are new to exercising or coming of a lower back injury?
The shoulder elevated hip extension is an awesome exercise to to start with. It allows you to repattern your hip extension in a safe way that doesn't involve crazy heavy barbells or trap bars but still gives you enough resistance to build a strong posterior with all the benefits!!

**Timeout Youth Academy**
Are you looking for something for your kids to do in the upcoming school holidays?
Do you want them off the screens?
... Do they want something other than the run-of-the-mill sports specific camps?
At Timeout Training we are running a 4 day camp in the second week of the July school holidays. It will run from Tuesday 17th - Friday 20th July from 10am - 4pm.
The Academy Camp is for 11 - 13 year old boys and girls that are looking to improve their health & fitness in a safe, unintimidating, fun environment.
Your child will learn the benefits of strength training, conditioning, core training and proper nutrition practices in the company of people of their own age.
Our focus is on health, both mental & physical and well being. We are not here to make them into elite athletes or for sports specific training and drills. We are dedicated to providing the tools that your kids can use in their lives to be able to live a happy, healthy & strong life - we want them to be THEIR best.

**Pull Pattern**
The chin-up may just be one of the best vertical pull exercise there is!
It has been around forever - this is testament to the fact that it is one of the bst for building strength not only through the back & arms, but also helps build a rock soild core & posterior chain.
... Yes - chin-ups can be hard, but you can still do them as part of your training program! We have ways of making you chin!!
With the band assisting by pulling you up towards the bar, we essentially make the chin-up "easier".
This allows pretty much anyone to incorporate chi-ups into their program.

**Bullet Proof Core**
The tall plank is a really solid exercise for creating a strong and stable core.
At Timeout Training, our base plank position is the tall plank. We think this a better position for your posture as well as your core strength and stability as it brings your body into a more natural position. If you look at the postion of Brett's spine and his posture, it looks more like the body would look if he were standing ina strong posture position.
