About Tina Aviles

I spent my early years growing up on the coast of Ecuador in the city of Guayaquil. Guayaquil, Ecuador was my father's place of birth. My mother hailed from NYC so we were a bilingual household. I was deeply influenced by the native peoples of Ecuador, descendants of the Incas.
Upon moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico in the USA I was motivated to create works that were linked to the Native Americans. My exposure to and knowledge of both the hunger experienced by many peoples across the world and the violence against women was another force in my work. I have created other works to show my concern for the fauna, flora and human inhabitants of our planet as we wreck destruction of rainforests and the native inhabitants there through the reckless activities to gather petroleum and other fossil fuels.
We only have one home, planet earth, and we need to protect it.
