About Today For Tomorrow - Reaching Out For Cystic Fibrosis

Welcome to Today for Tomorrow - reaching out for cystic fibrosis Today for Tomorrow was established in 2009 after experiencing the amazing work that the cystic fibrosis ( CF) team of the Children's Hospital at Westmead do on a daily basis. Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life threatening recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children. One in every 2, 500 babies born will be diagnosed with this disease. The average life of an individual with CF is that of 30years and yet there is NO cure! Cystic Fibrosis affects many organs within the body but specifically the lungs and pancreas. The ineffective movement of salt between cells creates a thick sticky mucous that results in blockages of these organs. The repetitive infections of the lungs lead to irreversible damage and death. Individuals living with this condition undergo an extensive daily regime of multiple medications and physiotherapy regardless of their health condition. It is the above facts that motivate us at Today for Tomorrow to create awareness of this life threatening disease and raise vital funds. At Today for Tomorrow all funds raised go direct to the CF unit at The Hospital for Children, Westmead. It is the multidisciplinary approach from the team of speciality doctors, nurses, dieticians; workers that deliver innovative treatment that help create a brighter future. It is a basic aim to give these children a better quality of life and longevity so one day they will be around to receive the cure!
