TOLLERON
Dogs NSW Registered Breeders of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

Home of the fun, agile and versatile N. S. D. T. R. (Toller)

Hi our names are Tina & David. We would love to introduce you to the NSDTR or “Toller” as they are better known. Tollers are still a fairly rare breed within Australia, although they are hugely popular as a breed due to their wonderful natures and versatile abilities.

We here at TOLLERON are a small Kennel & although we have been owned by & have been active in lots of different Dog disciplines with our Tollers for over 15 years & participate in Obedience, Rally, Agility competitions & Conformation showing with our Tollers, we are only just now venturing into breeding with our current younger Toller girl Tessy. Tina is a Certified Dog behavioural trainer & chief Obedience Instructor of our local dog club & David is a Master Agility tainer competing at top level & running Agility training seminars & workshops so exposing & training our puppies to a variety of different situations and commands as soon as they can walk is a big part of the upbringing of every TOLLERON puppy.

We currently have 5 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers Our USA imported stud boy "Stargazers Red Hot Chilli Pepper". Madison (CDX. ADX. JDX & SD Lidlriva Wattle Blossom). Tessy (CD. RA. JD. GD. SD. Anasadatar Dare to Dream) & her daughter Layla TOLLERON RHAPSODY IN RED & TOLLERON TIRAMISU all of them have achieved high levels of success in Shows, Obedience & Agility & have been involved and loved participating in, Rally Obedience, Flyball & Dancing with Dogs.

About Tollers: Bred to assist Duck & other Game bird hunters by attracting & luring the birds to shore by first frolicking on the shore line enticing birds to come within easy range & then retrieve the Game in or out of the water to the Hunter. They are medium in size, have a low maintenance water resistant coat that only requires a quick brush through about once a or twice a week and adjust well to multi species pet households. They also are one of the most appealing looking dog breeds around (Not that we are in any way biased here at Tolleron! ) & I’m sure its that big infectious Toller grin that has a lot to do with their appeal!

The Toller has a great sense of humour and fun and they are smart as a whip. They are super sensitive to their owners feelings & moods & wear their hearts on their sleves, you are rarely in doubt about how they are feeling in the moment. They are a VERY active HIGH energy breed so be warned! They do need a lot of exercise particularly when they are young & if they don’t get it they can become naughty & destructive by inventing their own games that can involve the destruction of the things you love if they are given no other outlet to channel all that energy.

They love to be involved in any activity that engages either their minds or bodies. They are an extremely agile, intelligent breed that enjoys being active, whether it is chasing a ball in the back yard (Most Tollers just live to retrieve) or being involved in any dog related activities. Tollers are easy to train, they love to swim, compete or preform and have excelled in most of the dog related disciplines i. e. Obedience and Agility trials, fly ball and Frisbee comps as well as making outstanding dancing with dog’s competitors and trick training dogs too. In fact there really is not much that a Toller would not be willing to do for you as long you are willing to take the time to teach them, they are very fast learners but do get bored easily with a lot of repetitive training. They do respond exceptionally well to positive reinforcement training methods.

You absolutely do need to be willing to invest time & energy into Obedience training this breed & enrolling in a puppy pre-school course with your new Toller puppy at the very least, is a necessity. In fact you will find the more training you do with them the better behaved they will be.

Although they can be reserved with strangers or new experiences they are a very loving family orientated breed that does require attention so don’t consider adopting a Toller if you don’t feel that you would have the time and energy to interact with them closely on a daily basis.

Stargazers Red Hot Chilli Pepper, Tessy (Anasadatar Dare to Dream), Layla (Tolleron Rhapsody in Red) & Tira (Tolleron Tiramasu) are all hip scored well within breed ratings & are PRA Eye, Heart tested & clear lines.
