The University of Wollongong Art Collection expanded recently to include May Barrie's model of the Winged Bull sculpture. Alumna Jules McCue helped facilitate the donation.

Come to the UOW Library for the PLACE exhibition which brings together 38 book artists, exploring the theme of place in their work, whether a physical location or a place of their imagination. Contributing artists will hold a disucssion at the launch on Wednesday August 15 at 2pm.

Micro Galleries artist and alumna Kat Roma Greer has recently returned from the Arctic Circle inspired by a residency program called Artistic Circle. She spent three weeks discussing climate activisim with fellow artists, scientists and educators with the aim of engaging more artists with climate disruption. Kat is hoping to use the inspiration in her next Micro Galleries installment in Kathmandu in November.

Best of luck to alumnus, playwright and director Mark Rogers whose play Tom William Mitchell will open on Thursday at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Wollongong as part of the MerrigongX season. Break a leg! ✨✨✨

Alumni from the University of Wollongong, their families and friends came together in friendship in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which marks the end of Ramadan. Proud Malaysian UOW alumni Noor Ilias Mohd Idris (Mechanical Engingeering, 1991) and his wife, Sean Helena Hamzah (Mechanical Engineering, 1992) opened their house for the festivities which included traditional Malaysian food including ketupat, satay, lemang, serunding and durian. UOW Alumni Relations Manager, Leanne Newsham attended and joined in the celebrations on behalf of the University.
