Vaucluse House

Picturesque garden in the heart of the Vaucluse area. One of the most beautiful gardens I've visited in Sydney.
Vaucluse House is one the few well preserved mansions of the colonial times. Established by the former convict by the way.
Now the museum of course. I haven't been myself, but looking forward to.

This historic house is an easy bus ride from Circular Quay but hard to find once you are off the bus due to no signs indicating the location. Be sure to take the guided tour; very informative. Wander around the beautiful kitchen garden and stables. And don't miss the makeshift “bedroom” at the end of the hall.

Grounds a then tic. Cafe great. One set of up-to-date date loos with reasonably accessible options, as well as older, smaller ones for the ambulant.

We took the kids there at Easter for their special Easter Egg Hunt. It was a terrific family day out with loads of good old fashioned fun activities like egg and spoon races. Lovely picnic on the lawn too.
The house is well worth a visit.

Very disappointed with the service. It started off ok, we came for my mums birthday. I asked if we could arrange something special. Well they gave us something special alright... charged us $125 for an average chocolate cake which was NOT nut free! They did not even bother asking if we had anyone with nut allergy which we had!!! I will not be returning.

Lovely place, especially on a sunny day. Beautiful surroundings and warm atmosphere. The coffee could be stronger, that's all.

Vaucluse House Is beautifully located with panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and surrounded by stunning gardens. This makes it the perfect spot for High Tea. Such a lovely way to spend the afternoon eating delicious cakes and savouries, sipping on champagne and tea served in fine China cups. A little bit of escapism in a busy life. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Well worth it.

Guide was fun and filled us in with interesting facts regarding the place and it's previous owners.

Washrooms located away from the house, behind the stable. Clean.

Parking available onsite. As there is a cafe next to the House, therefore parking might be a squeeze. Ample of nearby street parking though.

A nice afternoon stroll. As an English man, my idea of manor houses is somewhat grander than this. But the grounds are free to stroll in and there are some interesting information boards in the coach houses. The tea house looks nice although haven't tried it. A good place to combine with a visit to nearby Nielsen Beach.
