Reviews
I organised a high tea as a gift for my wife and my mum in law and they loved it. Food was really good and beautiful historical location.
The waiter came to table for three times, never bring the menu. The Asia young girl is very rude. All the customers are complaining their service. They charge one of customers three times. They give wrong dishes to other table and wouldn't like to change. Low level service and food, not suit to this beautiful place!
We ordered two Devinshire teas and we only received one serve of scones. We had to wait 15 minutes for the second serve to arrive. The scones were nice, the service was dreadful. Our table was too small for three people and the wait staff looked irritated that we couldn't fit more on our table when they brought out our order. We regret not ordering take away and sitting in the garden.
This is the email I sent them. They never responded:
To whom it may concern,
On the 25th of May, I was part of a group of Senior Pensioners from Chester Hill Community Centre that attended there for lunch.
What I would like to know is, why your waiters/waitresses kept pouring drink after drink of wine, when the deal only included one glass per person?
None of asked for more wine and it should not have been constantly offered to us, when it was not requested.
Coffee and Tea was also provided, but at no point was it mentioned that it was not included.
Your website does Not say that coffee is extra, so one could reasonably assume that it was complimentary, as it has been at so many other monthly outings we have attended.
When I questioned the manager as to why the wine was constantly topped up, the answer was: "good customer service".
Well, where was the "customer service" when we requested bread and butter?!!!
I am appalled and view this as a MASSIVE money grab.
Trick struggling pensioners and struggling Community Centres and then hit them with a massive unexpected bill !!!
I will be posting this on Facebook to warn everyone I possibly can, so that they may not fall into the same predicament as we did.
I wonder if ACCC and ACA may be interested also....
We have never experienced such a situation before.

Gorgeous garden located close to the city. The tea rooms are lovely and have a good selection of teas, high tea items and other menu items. They don't provide enough cream for scones though and you have to continuously ask which is a pain.
Such a pretty location for a high tea. Very expensive for what you get. So make sure it a special occasion! Food was also very tasty.
I recently attended the tearooms for a kitchen tea. The food was quite good and value for money. My only suggestion would be that more selection of coffees and teas be made available. We only had black coffee or English Breakfast tea available neither of which I could have. When I offered to pay (extra) for a different coffee I was told I couldn't have it yet the cafe area next to us was being served the coffee that I requested. I don't understand why this was so. Perhaps some flexibility by this establishment could be offered next time.
Food was good but I expected better given the price. Not the best High Tea I've had by far, but if you've tried others like the one at the QVB (which is great) then perhaps try this one too for comparison.
Fantastic service. Great range of breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. You can even just come for the scones, served with clotted cream and beautiful jam. Pair with any of their fantastic tea options.
The tea rooms are great! Set in a quiet, idyllic setting, you get to sample tasty morsels and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Lovely setting. Tasty food, but QVB still wins the Sydney High Tea competition in my books (in terms of value, service and scone quality).
