**Velma’s Pets As Therapy Visiting Volunteers**

Are considered to be the most professionally trained pets as therapy visitors in NSW and possibly Australia. The pet handlers are extensively trained to use strict health and safety procedures and all pets are specifically placed for safe interaction with frail and /or challenged adults and children.

Pets are veterinarian assessed for healthiness, temperament and if a dog specific obedience for pets as therapy. Pets are re-assessed each year.

VPAT is always in need of people with access to a very friendly, well mannered pet to train in all the specific aspects of health and safety, to visit hospitals and nursing homes to raise the spirits and bring fun and friendship to challenged adults and children.

VPAT is known to be the most professional pets as therapy program in NSW and probably Australia. Although mostly operated by volunteers all visiting volunteers are trained to a professional standard.

Velma’s Pets As Therapy has visiting volunteers in Sydney and all surrounding areas including Sutherland, Penrith, Hornsby, The Hills districts, Central Coast and Newcastle.

The VPAT program has experience in visiting hospitals, nursing homes, respite programs, schools, group homes, individuals being supported in their homes and individuals in nursing homes. VPAT visitors are experienced in visiting frail, challenged and vulnerable people and children and people experiencing dementia.

VPAT is mainly a self-funded program and request a donation of $73. 00 per visit or $350. 00 for 5 visits when paid in advance reducing the visit fee to $70. 00 per visit.
