Vertical Foot Alignment System Description

The Vertical Foot Alignment System (VFAS) is a device that allows a practitioner to control and capture the optimal biomechanical position of the feet while standing.

Realignment and casting occur simultaneously to align all three segments of the feet into any position you want, within the foot’s range of motion. This simple yet unique principle allows the body's tissues and bones to be corrected and aligned in a single simple process. The heel towers of the VFAS can be raised and tilted (if needed) to compensate for leg length discrepancies, foot deformities, shoe heel height and pitch. The Practitioner sits behind the patient and plaster bandage is wrapped around the feet as the patient stands on the foot beds of the VFAS. As the plaster sets, the Rearfoot, Midfoot, Cuboid and Forefoot Alignment Curves are used to place Vertical, Translational and Rotational Forces on the feet to Pronate or Supinate these segments, individually or all at once.
The cast should be ready to remove in less than 5 minutes giving you a negative mold that is an exact replica of the corrected foot shape. Basically, the position you want the feet in and how much force you apply to the plantar surface, is totally up to the practitioner.
