Victoria & Albert Guesthouse

An oldie worldie guest house in need of a make over. Basic accomodation but still worth the effort. We prefer to stay here rather than motels for about the same tarriff.

Olde worldly. Comfortable. Great service and value.

Room tired and very dated. It's next step up from a hostel. The room was musty, and cold. But bedding was clean. The the shared areas there were random piles of linen etc left on the couch. The heater didn't warm the room and only one of the two bed warmers worked. As advertised there is no fridge etc, literally just bed and sink and wardrobe. Ok if you literally need a bed, but I suspect some of the surrounding motels could've supplied better facilities and a better rate.

Nice place to stay. Owners doing a good job keeping it running. They have a bar and kitchen that serves dinner every night. Nice garden too. Rooms cosy

Established guest house with new management putting a lot of work into renovations and improvements. Good value.

Thought the hotel was tired and dated. Our room had a damp, musty smell most likely from the ancient carpet. It is a lovely, old building but is in desperate need of fresh paint. The woodwork and doors are painted in such dark flat colours it saps the light out of the rooms. Our bedroom window was so rotten we didn't like to open it in case it fell apart! With no air conditioning or even a fan on offer, it made for a hot night.
Breakfast was very basic, cheap end cereal and white bread/toast. There are surely other hotels and guest houses on offer for the same price that can offer so much more.
Mount Victoria seemed to be closed during the week. Stay in Katoomba or Blackheath.
