About Wahroonga Waterways Landcare

Wahroonga Waterways Landcare is a volunteer program run by Adventist Aged Care. It works primarily in an E2 Environmental Conservation Zone owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Wahroonga. We also work in the Lane Cove NP and on council lands.

Wahroonga Waterways Landcare Description

In 2008, the San Hospital at Wahroonga was working through a redevelopment application. Concerns were raised by the community about the treatment of the nearby bushland. The Federal Government decided that the bushland was to be protected, due to its high conservation values, and the area was zoned 'E2 Environmental Conservation'.
In 2012, Adventist Aged Care secured the tender to manage the bush. The bush management team quickly realised that the community should be engaged with the bush, and established Wahroonga Waterways Landcare.
Five years later, the group is still going strong, and growing each year. Its educational tours and lessons for students and the local community have proven to be very popular. With the community's help, Wahroonga Waterways Landcare has been able to develop project plans to tackle degraded areas of the bush.
